Starting a thread for the New Grad program starting March 2024!
Note from allnurses Staff
As this is one of our most popular new grad residencies on this forum, with hundreds of threads over the years, the allnurses support team wanted to share some additional information on the residency program.
Good luck to all!
The Stanford RN Residency Program, which started in 2006, is one of the most sought-after residencies in the country. The Winter 40 Cohort has a start date of March 18th, 2024.
It is a separate residency program from the Stanford Children's Health (Lucile Packard) Program and the Stanford ValleyCare programs.

Interview invites are scheduled to be sent out at the beginning of January, with the interviews taking place from January 29th- February 9th, 2024. There are two separate interviews:
There are four specialty areas that participate in the new grad program:
As well as some additional specialties (subject to change). Applicants are asked to rank their preferences, but you will only be interviewed for one specialty.
pwong said:Hi Emma! I just had my interview yesterday as well. I haven't gotten a call back yet but still hoping! Is it okay if I email you too please? I'm hoping to get some insight on what you did during your interview and ways I can improve. Thank you in advance ?
Hi Pwong! Sorry for my late response. I was busy preparing for my 2nd round. I just finished my 2nd round. I feel that being well-prepared is the most important thing. During the interview prep, they mentioned all the qualities of a clinical nurse, such as communication, time management, cultural competency, teamwork, etc. I prepared about 14 different stories that I could use to respond to similar behavioral questions. Besides that, having a clear structure is really important. You need to cover all the components of each question, which includes 'What happened, what did you do, what was the outcome, and what did you learn from it?'"

That's totally okay, I'm rooting for you and I'm sure you got the position! I hope you take some time for yourself today to relax after all the prepping! ?
I appreciate your thorough response. Is it okay to still email you on the side whenever you get the chance please? I believe I hit all the main points and the qualities they were looking for, but after hearing one of my peers in the zoom I think the structure of my story telling maybe didn't flow in terms of painting them a picture of the scenario and might've sounded too vague. I was scared of going over the 2 minutes and how strict they'd be. I would love to get to know how you painted the picture for them, if possible, to work on my story telling. Thank you again!!
