Standing up for "Management"

Published

I've been reading posts here for quite a while and it seems that "management" frequently gets a bad rap. I've been management for a while now...am ADNS at a 142 bed facility, and I do everything I can to support my staff and advocate for them, but it does get tiring to have to repeat the same things to them over and over...and to do their work if they slack off....vent vent vent

I have a great DON who advocates for us and appreciates us. Our nursing supervisors also go to bat for us. I don't have a problem, which I'm grateful for.

There are bad managers and good managers and they exist in every profession . . I used to work for a computer company and had one male manager who was a ladies man (read jerk) who treated his female staff vey disrespectfully . . .

I too think it is a bad rap to castigate all nursing management.
