Anyone applied for this school year ? So far I've done the placement exam and the interview, wanted to see if anyone knows when they will be sending out letter of acceptance ?
I am in their 1st cohort so graduating soon. I can assure you it wouldn't be due to the color of your skin. I'm not even about to go back and try to hunt down your ethnicity but we started with like 27 and majority were not caucasian (think about 9ish) and I am in my last week before my exit exam and there are 16 of us left. I actually had to stop and look around to see how many of us were caucasian lol. there is 5. yes I am caucasian but i am far from a favorite or even near preferential to the department.
How are you liking the program? Why do you think so many dropped out of the program? So sad to pay all the $$.
Hi Denise, sorry to bother you I know this thread is old. But I am in the application process for the ADN program at Stanbridge. Just wanted to know if anyone in your cohort was chosen that didn't have experience or degrees. What's the ratio of that like? I have been doing this process since may just had my interview yesterday. How many weeks does the process take? Thank you so much for any advice you may have or info. Means a lot. I don't get a ton of direct answers otherwise. 😩😩
I would honestly say some of it was our cohort they took in anyone and everyone. When I started the process they said I couldn't meet with financial aid until I had taken my TEAS test and we couldn't get an interview until after financial aid approved us. Well we did our orientation week with students ACCEPTED who hadn't taken let alone passed the TEAS. That first week we lost like maybe 3-4 since they didn't pass the TEAS. Some other students were working full time and had families, they couldn't afford to not work full time so their ability put in study time was limited.
There was quite a few I can only assume it was a language thing. ESL students it has to be extremely difficult for many. One of my classmates was shocked I would spend like maybe 30mins on a test and be done, boggled my mind it took her the full time until she told me something. She said she had to read the questions and translate them in her head to her own language then try to understand and comprehend what it is asking then critically think the question to what the answer would be then translate that into English. Only to have to go on and read each answer and translate it in her head to understand what it was saying and if it would match what she thought the answer would be.
Blew my mind! Like I am a LVN and I've been one for years, WORKING as a nurse. I have been a CHARGE NURSE! Even a Case Manager!! I have only ever read, spoke and written English but even I would answer some questions wrong because I misunderstood what the question was asking!!! So if even I can't fully get what the question was asking me then really how insanely more difficult it is as English as a second language? Especially if it hasn't been years and years of experience with using English.
I know now we lost one student who it seemed like it was a language issue because she was very smart and she really understood the concepts so I just don't get how we lost her unless she just tested poorly which could only be struggling with the reading/translating/comprehension since she was extremely intelligent and really knew the information.
Hi BrittNicole = So it seems you did get an interview? I am still waiting to see if I get one. How was the interview process? I heard you have to write an essay? Thanks for any input you may have as well, I would be grateful. Good Luck!
You do have to write an essay but it's a very simple basic essay. Mine was a why do you want to become a nurse.
The interview was very relaxed. She just asked a couple questions. Mine was with a group of two others applicants. Then we did an essay of a time where we had to overcome a difficult time in our lives and how we did it. The waiting game is the hardest part. Have you gotten an interview yet?

Hi Denise. I haven't met you in class yet. Are you still with the program?
