Stagnate LPN ! / LPN School A Waste Of Time !

Published

I feel as if I have wasted my time and effort and lost soo much sleep going to school to get my LPN ! I have filled out 30+ applications for employment and not even a call back. I have always wanted to be a nurse and help others, but this is crazy. Classmates have found employment, and I have taken and passed the NCLEX before them. Oh well quess I will just wait to start my ADN program and hope it will get better once I am an RN. But I am defeated unfortunately I will never work as an LPN !

sadly you may find the same problem as an ADN. It is getting pretty tough for new grads all over the country. Keep applying, and increase your commuting distance. You might get lucky.

There are so many schools out there now, the market is very flooded.

good luck

You mentioned that your former classmates have already found employment, but you still have not landed a nursing job.

Unfortunately, finding one's first nursing position in a competitive job market is less about what you know, and more about who you know. Perhaps your former classmates made connections more effectively while in school with the people who really matter, such as seasoned nurses and friends who know of job openings. Jobs are all to often found through informal connections and social mingling, not through passing NCLEX before everyone else.

It already appears you've conceded defeat by reading your post. If you change your mind and still want to find that first nursing job, I would apply in person at every home health company, acute care hospital, nursing home, hospice, clinic, doctors office, private duty agency, psychiatric hospital, and jail within a 50 mile radius of your home. Apply to the places that are not advertising for a nurse, because statistics indicate that two-thirds of all job openings are not advertised. Good luck to you.

30 applications is nothing. I'm not kidding. When I was looking for a job after I already had experience, I didn't get a response until I hit around the 100 mark.
