I am trying to figure out the best solution. Currently I am studying towards my MSN - FNP part time, and am working part time as a clinical instructor for a practical nursing program. Both endeavors have turned out to be more demanding than I expected. I'm not giving up on school because that is my top priority, but I'm conflicted about what to do with my job. On one hand, it's perfect because I only physically go to work 1 - 2 days a week with no weekends or holidays. However I spend lots of time off the clock preparing activities and completing student evaluations. I was looking at staffing agencies, and one claims that you can work as much as you want and when you want. Obviously non education jobs when you're done your shift, you are done, and I definitely need flexibility. But I've heard varying stories about staffing agencies so I just don't know what to think. Not to mention the grass is never greener on the other side of the fence. Does anybody have experience with staffing agencies for nursing? I'm just looking for some information that may help me decide whether or not I want to leave my current job. I had 2.5 years experience in acute med-surg-oncology before transitioning to this teaching job.
