Hi! I am new to this board. Are there any staff RNs out there in LTC? I live in FL. There have been so many changes recently and turnover at our facility...I am the only staff RN on 3 to 11...anyone else out there feeling this isolation..get along great with the staff, but other websites post you lose your clinical skills in LTC...and RNs should only be administrators in LTC...

I have worked with RN's who didn't last in LTC because of the stress. No, they weren't doing administrative work, they just couldn't keep up on the floor. Not to say there weren't LPN's in the same situation but I think it goes to show that the title RN or LPN doesn't make you any more or less a nurse. Also at the LTC where I worked there were actually LPN's doing administrative work above RN's who were working the floor. I discovered being an RN doesn't necessarily entitle you to be in a certain position.
