We already see this push in our nephrology practice and home hemo whether staff asisted or family assisted is really becoming the norm.

I applaud you, GeauxNursing, it is time for the hypocrisy to end. :) Most individuals in the medical field would chose home dialysis for themselves and not In-Center dialysis.
right. I wouldn't let just anyone stick me. I've taught 2 patients to stick themselves.
I do my own sticking on home dialysis, Nocturnal. The only people that I let stick me are the Nursing staff at IU or the IUTech, who has 34 years of sticking experience, she is much better at me at sticking and is better than the Nursing staff, their words, not mine. I only do short treatments for 2-3 hours at 500 when I really do not feel well and I need to control my blood sugar with sleep. Per IU Kidney, blood sugar control is almost impossible without the correct amount of sleep. If a dialysis patient is supposed to use a C-Pap machine and they do not, it is the same as being a drunk driver. One of the IU RN's was trying to convince this guy to use his sleep machine and he did not want to, then I gave him the facts of life about being a drunk without his C-Pap and endangering his life and the lives of others, not a smart idea.
I love that, AMEN!!!!!!!!
