Hi there - I'm a STABLE instructor and love teaching it - I always learn something new! It is in a lecture format with some interaction when we do the lab module. We also try to include lots of real world examples and tie everything together. There is a test afterward but you'll be well-prepared by the end of the day for it; if you don't pass they can go over the questions with you - it's more of a learning opportunity, not a punitive experience. The instructors want you to succeed!
Even though when I took STABLE I was dreading a whole day in the classroom full of lectures, I walked out of their and felt so smart! If you just started in a NICU it's a great thing to have and I felt really helped me on the unit and in my care for babies. It kind of tied everything together for me about why we do things a certain way :)
Where can I take this class??? I'm in the Bay Area and have been out of NICU for 4 years now. I really want back in and can't find this class OR NRP classes ANYWHERE! Can u help me?
STABLE class may be regional-not usually required on the east coast. The only time I am asked if I have a STABLE certification is when I get called about a west coast assignment. As for NRP maybe you can contact a hospital education dept and ask if you can do the hands on. You will first have to take the written test and thats done online. Maybe your former hospital will allow you to do it there.(the hands on).

Hi everyone! I'm taking the STABLE course coming up next week and was just curious to know what to expect out of the class itself...are there simulations/hands on experiences, or is it more of just a lecture format? I know there is a pretest we have to have complete before the class...is there a test you complete after the class as well? And what happens if you don't pass? Any advice is appreciated!
