STAAR Testing Anxeity

So in Texas we have our state testing coming up and I been getting a lot of students with anxiety and worries about this test. Any advice how to help them on this?

Does your school decorate the walls with encouraging slogans, hold test pep rallies, and preparation super hero you can do it in parades the hallways, and feed the kids breakfast in the classroom on test day?????????????????????????????

Mine does:no: but it makes no difference in the anxiety or faking sick to try to avoid the test visits.

We do, and we had a pep rally/ parade on Monday (I had to leave early though, So I didn't get to participate in it.) and we did encouraging posters and such around the school, BUT! Then on the day of the test, we had to COVER EVERYTHING UP! My door included, which to life of me doesn't make sense, but then again when has these test ever made sense?

Don't get me started on testing......such an expensive and pointless waste of talents and energy. I used to be at teacher, so I get how awful and stressful it is. I provide a nice, quiet atmosphere in my office that encourages students and teachers to come in and let off steam or decompress. I have also let parents know they CAN opt their SUPER anxious kid out of testing.....but then again I am rather outspoken and I wouldn't recommend that approach to anyone who doesn't want to risk their jobs.......I just don't take crap and I know I could walk out the door now and have another job by dinner time.....just sayin'......

Thankfully they said they will let us keep our bulletin boards up and motivational posters up, so that makes things a bit cheery, but I dread that week.
