Has anyone heard about the new St. Thomas University FNP program, Miami Gardens? Is it accredited? Anyone in the program?

Hello! Just saw this and was wondering if you are currently enrolled in the FNP program at St.Thomas. How do you like it?

Specializes in Cardiac PCU/Med-Telemetry.

Has anyone found out any information on this school or currently in the program?

This is one of the schools I applied to for January and would like to hear feedback. It is very near my home so it is a bonus!

Thanks in advance.

The school is accredited, but the first FNP class hasn't graduated yet. I also haven't found any reviews of current students currently enrolled. Really would like some feedback before enrolling.

I just replied to another post here about the program. STAY AWAY. This is the worst program ever and it infuriates me that they have been able to get away with it thus far. It’s only a matter of time. No help, no guidance, nothing. Unfair grading practices , exams covering material that does not follow syllabus. You fail the course if you receive below an 83. Pharmacology 20 questions 20 minute . I haven’t experienced one pleasant or helpful person at the school. Financial aid office is terrible. Phone numbers work some days and other days they don’t. I’m not exaggerating. RUN AWAY and do yourself a favor and skip this one. Don’t let the cost fool you. I feel like I am too far in and don’t want to lose even more money. Seriously hope something happens and they become accountable for what they are doing to students. Should not be accredited.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear from fellow students. Goof luck and I hope you the best.

All that you wrote here is true. Its sad, distressing and discouraging.

@Nelsdm1 I am looking for reviews as well on St Thomas FNP. Has it improved since your post. I plan to start March 2020; and I am getting red flags already with admission, IT, registering for classes. Communication and everything is making me worry. I really put this school at top of my list and the program cost and length is what did it. Are people failing due to this?

Hi, I am currently in this program and all of this is true. Unfortunately I too am too far in to stop now or transfer schools. There is a lot of content to cover and you are on your own to learn it, just by reading the book because it’s your only resource. I have finished the core classes and start clinicals in a few weeks. Finding my own preceptors has been insanely difficult because no one has heard of the school and they have no affiliations. I have come to terms with having to pay for preceptors if I want to graduate on time. There are no intensives to prepare you for clinicals, I am feeling very unprepared going to do clinicals with practitioners who went to brick and mortar schools. The price and 18 month finishing time led me to this school but I am regretting it more everyday. Unfortunately the universities in my area are all DNP programs and I cannot dedicate that time or money to one of those programs. I am just hoping for the best at this point. Hopefully my preceptors will provide me with the knowledge I need to be successful. The whole process is very discouraging.

?? This school is on the top of my list as well price & locations ??‍♀️. Please share what other schools that have a good program & clinicals

Reading these comments makes me rethink if I want to attend this fall. I'm supposed to start in August but with these reviews I don't know!!

Specializes in ICU, PCU, Neuro/Stroke.

Those who are in the program right now how far are you in it and how has the clinicals been going? Has there been any changes since last year?
