St. Thomas PMHNP program courses- Anyone recently completed and can answer questions?

I started the PMHNP program at St. Thomas University in Miami this semester. I just completed Advanced Patho and Role transitions. 

I am scheduled to take psychopathology this 7 weeks and the only two classes I can take with it are Advanced Health Assessment or Advanced Pharmacology. Has anyone graduated recently that has feedback on the course load for these two classes?

 There is no information about the school anywhere else, and several posts state the professor can make or break if you pass. After a semester I believe every word I read.

Hi! 
I’m in my second term of this program and have a completely different order for my courses which I find weird. My first term was the same as yours but now I have pharm and philosophy, theory & research. Next term is psychopathology & diversity. How did your term go with that combination of courses? I’m wondering if they changed it because it was too much.

Hi, Have you completed all courses already? was it online? how was your experience over all? I have found mostly negative reviews, but not about the PMHNP program, please share your experience. Cost/creditwise this programs looks very interesting, it would be good to know how its being managed and conducted. Please share, THANK YOU!

I just started the PMHNP at ST. Thomas in May 2022. I just completed my first class -Role Transition. I was initially registered for both Pathophysiology and Role Transition but had to drop Patho, because the instructor was terrible, and the course is too intense to complete in a 6 week Summer term, especially with another class. I ended up dropping it, and plan on taking it in the Fall, by itself. I would like feedback from someone that has more than a few classes completed, especially regarding the clinical rotations. Also, where can I find the information regarding the schools' reputation in the PMHNP program? I was never able to find any feedback.

Can I find out what the passing grade is per course for Psych Nursing at St Thomas to stay in the program is currently?  
is it a 3.0 for each test or paper which I guess is 80 and for each course a B or does it average out to a B so you could get a C in a test or paper?

Current student here with 12 weeks left until graduation. The only thing that’s good about this program is the price and the friendships made. If you try to do this program alone, success is nearly impossible. 

Professors aren’t very helpful, they get annoyed when students email questions for clarification. Program has no organization, no direction, contradicting rubrics vs. instructions, exams do not cover assigned reading/material, exams are obviously copied and pasted from multiple sources as the fonts are all different, many many spelling errors on exams and instructions, questions with no correct answers (almost as of the question was copied and the answers copied were from another question) and when the question is challenged there’s no nullification of questions, EXAM REVIEWS what are those?, they claim they can’t have exams reviews because of exam integrity, one more excuse not to do any work and actually help students, and on and on. They don’t have an orientation to the program at the start or before clinical rotations start. This makes it difficult to manage your time and often causes major stress. Also, most of your learning happens in clinical. Find a preceptor early. Interview several and choose someone you are compatible with. Many charge outrageous fees, so keep that in mind. 

To conclude, is it impossible?, no. Is it stressful?, yes. Can it be done? Sure. If you decide to move ahead with St. Thomas know that you are in for a roller coaster ride. In the end, if you have a friend or establish friendships in the program, you can support each other and battle the program together.

Passing is an 83% average for the class.

Hi! I’ve just completed my first term at St. Thomas and I almost didn't make it. Advanced Patho was a killer. The professor was rough and not helpful. We started with 15 students and ended with six. That says a lot about this school and the program.  Next term is psychopathology and diversity. Does anyone have any guidance on how to approach psychopathology?

Hi,

I graduated from this program last year. It was honestly a nightmare. I suggest looking for another school if you want to maintain your sanity.
