Shisa2222, The OA's are the course exam. The 3 P's have OA's and some other classes may as well, but I am not sure. Each of these classes have an assignment or two and then the OA which is one test over the entire material. They are pass or fail tests, so they do not have a letter grade. You have 2 chances to pass them and you may get a 3rd chance upon appeal. One semester is 6 months. For those people that think WGU is a "diploma mill", they couldn't be farther from the truth. Those OA's are no joke! It take an incredible amount of time, dedication, focus, and retention, as well as putting the knowledge together to pass them.

I graduated from WGU with my ADN to BSN in February 2023. All of the classes are strictly online, however they have cinical hours as well. I thought getting clinical hours were rather redundant for an RN that is working as an RN. With that being said, my understanding is that the change towards clinical hours for the BSN is a new requirement for the school to keep their accreditation. If is extrememly do able, with that being said, if you are very motivated and organized you can finish in one 6 month term. It is one payment per term no many how many classes you take, which is great if you can complete the BSN in 6 months (which you can!) I would recommend anyone with an ADN/ASN to go to WGU for their BSN. Good luck to you! If you have any other questions, I don't mind answering them.

Ladybugs419, I really like WGU. I received my BSN from them and like how I can self-pace, which for me is accelerating. We have two FNP facebook groups, and they help alot. Currently, I am just doing the billing for my husbands business, so I have plenty of time on my hands.

Ladybugs419, WGU does not allow us (I'm in the FNP program) to pay for our preceptors. I just started this month and already have 2 of my 3 preceptors locked in. I am in a small town in S. GA.

Dana, I wonder if you will see this since it's been a few months since you wrote the post. Thank you for writing it; it is very informative. I plan to begin WGU's FNP program early next year. Which classes are considered core classes? Are they the MSN core or also the FNP core classes too? Tia!

I am looking into eventually going for the PMHNP, but at this point finishing up my last semester of ASN. Can you tell me why you think that having experience is important before pursuing the PMHNP? Thank you!

Not sure where you are located or if you can move, however, my school (Northeast Florida) is changing their Associates in Nursing program starting in January '17. Applicants are not required to take one pre req, but have to pass the HESI test with a 90 or higher. The applicants that are chosen have to then take the normal pre reqs while also doing nursing classes, however, you probably already have most of those classes. Also, chemistry is NOT a requirement at all. On a side note, the upside to getting your Associates first, is making that money first, while also going for your BSN. Don't forget to look into CLEPing your pre reqs as well. Saves $ and time.

Roy, I don't think that the OP is 17 anymore, as she is now a NP. This is a "look back" perspective.

I just spoke with a Worksource Advisor. Final decisions will be made today (6/8/16). Letters should be mailed out tomorrow.

IMO, I would hand deliver it. To me, it is much too important to trust the USPS to deliver. Even if you paid the extra money to have it certified, you would have no idea who would sign for it, therefore, it may not make it to the nursing department.

She didn't really answer that question, kinda skated right by it But you can always call her at 386-312-4176 and ask for Mrs. Luke. She is a super nice lady. She leaves her office today at noon.
