This is my first post on all nurses-so go easy on me. :)
I have my first RN interview in a couple weeks for a Step-down unit at Willis-Knighton Health System in Shreveport, Louisiana. I am from out of state and I am looking for any interview tips specific to this health system/area as well as tips for RN interviews in general. I am doing a lot of research on the health system itself, preparing to answer common interview questions, and will have some questions ready to ask the interviewer. I would appreciate any other advice anyone could offer! Thanks!

I know I've been asked this in interviews before, but its been a while, so when I was asked this today at an interview, I was stumped. Q: Tell me a time when you went above and beyond for a client/patient? Of course it wasn't til AFTER I left the interview did many examples come to mind. But, I must have done something right because I got a second interview :-) I was also asked to give an example of a time when I had to work with someone I didnt get along with, and how I managed that. I told him I've never had a work experience where I didn't get along with someone, but that I had an example during a clinical rotation in which I overheard another student talking about me. I told the interviewer that she and I got along professionally during the clinical day and did not let in affect our work. I then told him how After clinical, I aporoached her and let her know I overheard what she said and asked her if there was ever anything I did to offend her and if I did, Im sorry. Anyway, approaching her helped because it cleared the air and we became friends after that. So it was a negative turned into a positive. Oh, and I always hate this question "why apply to OUR company." Of course I dont give the complete honest answer of "because you're hiring." Good luck!
