i have been studying like a nut for 6 weeks now and last monday was our first pharm test. of course our instructor couldn't post the grades immediately because she wanted to do stats on each question to make sure the test was fair. finally grades were posted and........i got a perfect score on the exam!!!! i didn't miss a single one!!!! i am so excited since all i have heard about pharm is that it is very hard! i had to post here because alot of people in my class didn't do so well, and i don't want to seem like i'm bragging or rubbing it in, but i am really excited and had to tell someone!!!!!! thanks all for listening! good luck to everyone and study hard!

We have not gotten into many drugs yet, just the basics (right now we are on Cholenergic/Adrenergic agonists/antagonists) what a pain in the a**!! I just get out my handy dandy dry erase board and get to drawing. Draw out whatever you can to help you understand it. Sometimes there are no pictures to draw so I just make lists..alpha1 drugsblahblahblahbeta1 drugsblah blahblahthen i keep erasing and rewriting them until I know them. I find that it helps to use bright colored markers to do this because then they stick out in my mind. The good thing about the dry erase is that you can easily erase and do it over again as many times as you need to without using up 2 trees worth of paper, and the markers glide across the board smoother than a pen does to paper so it take less time. Then when test time comes the first thing i do is turn it over and write my lists and draw my pictures, then whenever a question comes up all I have to do is turn over to it and can visualize the answer. Also, find a good friend in school who you can bounce things off of. I have like 3-4 people that I can just call and talk things over with. The more you say it out loud, the better you will remember it when test time comes.Hope this helpsBy the way....no healthcare experience, think it helps that I don't have to unlearn anything before I learn the way the school wants it done!

watchthis22 63 Posts Sep 24, 2005 Lisa, I just use a board that is about 12 x 18 or so. It is big enough to write quite a bit on and not so big that it takes up the whole desk! I also used it for advanced physio last semester and OMG....what a BIG help that was!
