Hi all -
Does anyone have specific info on this facility?
-Good/bad overall rep
-Good/bad place to work?(I see they got Magnet Status)
-Currently hiring new grads?
-Tuition reimbursement?
-Starting sal for new grads?
-Good orientation?
-Safe ratios?
Anything else you know about this facility would be helpful. Many thanks.

I've heard good things about it. EVERY hospital is hiring new grads. I haven't come across one that hasn't yet because every hospital is short at the moment. You might not get into the speciality you want right away - they may have prerequisites that have to be followed first, but you'd be able to get a job where they would need you (if you're loving med-surg). their website is www.saintpetersuh.com Try giving their nurse recruiters a call and ask them personally for any further information.

I am not a nurse nor in nursing school yet but I can tell you from having lived in the area for my entire life that it is a good hospital. Tons and tons of births there. Robert Wood Johnson is also in New Brunswick and RWJ seems to handle most other stuff a lot more (they are actually affiliated now but not sure how).
An acquaintance from high school has worked there for the past 2 years and she loves it and also apparently makes a lot of money w/over time and whatnot.

There is NO affiliation between St. Peters and RWJUH
St. Peters is good if you are a new grad and want to work in a less intense enviornment
RWJUH is high acuity, doing more state of the art, research, heart surgery, heart transplants etc.
RWJUH nurses work at a higher paced level. There is a union supporting their nurses which does not exist at St Peters.
RWJUH is one of only 3 hospitals in the USA to have received Magnet 3 times successively
Wait another month and see how the new contract at RWJUH is negotiated

I am not a RN but work at St Peters in New Brunswick as a NUS in the intensive care unit, I have seen a lot of new grads hire on my unit, but it is better if you work per diem even if you are at school this kind of help you as a new grad to get in. I am attending nuring school presently.
