St. Paul's school of nursing 2016

Published

Hey new member but very familiar to this site!! Any one applying to SPSON for the Jan 2016 class?? What did you think of the SLE exam? What should I expect from the Hesi exam? Being that this school is not Acen accredited would that make a degree from the school useless? And can you transfer to an accredited BA program once you complete St. Paul's and pass the nclex?? Interested in the program and worried at the same time!!!

@tsimf13 are you starting in May? And which campus are you attending?

For those who were accepted. What were your GPA's like? I had a good hesi score and a great interview, but I have a low college GPA. low 2.0's is there still a chance?

Hi I'm new here, I passed my hesi exam already and rooting to start on May. Did my exam on January and they said they will give out calls by the end of February to first week of March, I'm a bit worried because until now I didn't get a call, is anybody here who got acceptance call already ? How long you guys waited ? I am very anxious !

I took my exam in either January or early February and I received an e-mail on 3/2. Then they followed up with a call later in the week.

Hello I recently applied to Saint Paul's in Staten Island and passed the HESI exam and did all my health paperwork sent in my transcripts, I am waiting to hear from them, how long does it usually take to hear back from them? My anxiety is killing me I am looking to enter in for January 2017. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi. I understand the anxiety and need to know their timeline. I hope my experience so far helps. I applied in July, took the test August 22, passed and interviewed with the president a week later. I received an acceptance call mid Sept. I met with admissions and financial aide Oct 10th and that's because my schedule wouldn't allow me to meet with them sooner. At this point, my medical info is submitted and am ready to start 1/9/2017. The only thing I am really waiting on if my class schedule being that I have transfer credits and will be part time first semester. Knowing what books I need in advance would help a great deal. Orientation I hear will either be Dec. 14, 5, or 16. They have not decided yet. Anyways that were I am for now. Hope this helps. GOOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!

Does anyone know what books they will possibly be using for January 2017? Or can someone inform me of what books they used for A+P 1 September 2016 Semester? I want to add that me deciding to go to SPSON was an easy decision because I work with an RN with a Bachelors degree who went there. She states she had a great experience and would go there again if she had to. Granted it's been years since she graduated but I must say that so far my experience has been good. It was a little flakey in the beginning because I had an advisor who was never available. I called and left her tons of messages about scheduling my test. I went up to the school the day I finally had an appointment to meet her and of course she was still out to lunch at the time of my appointment. Fate had it that the assistant direct came out and met with me. And unofficially she became my go to person for everything. She is timely with her responses especially via email. She has gone out of her way to accommodate me. It just so happens the day I interviewed with the president, he informed that the advisor I was originally assigned to left and that the assistant director would be my advisor. YAY!!!!!!!! So I have to say you can't always base you decisions on other people's bad experiences or good in some cases. Do your research and make the best decision for you. Go with a positive attitude regardless of what happens. Keep in mind that St. Pauls or any school has something you want. Stay focus on your goals and achieve greatness! ALWAYS REMEMBER Arguments, disagreements, people with negative attitudes, a school's lack organization, prejudices and even racism is temporary; it will only last for as long as you are there. Don't let the foolishness deter you from your ultimate goal. It's no sign of weakness to let people be... rather, you be the mature smart adult doing what you need to do and GET OUT!!!! And once you leave with your degree in hand, guess what, you will be leaving all that mess right where you met it! SO DONT DWELL ON IT NEGATIVITY BUT LET WHATEVER IT IS ROLL OFF YOUR SHOULDER and GO FOR IT!!!!! As for me, Class of 2018 HERE I COME!!

Thank you so much for your response, it is indeed very helpful I had a few more questions if you don't mind sharing your thoughts on. Will you be attending the Queens Campus or the Staten Island campus, the reason I ask is because I didn't get called for a interview yet with the president given every one's experience will be different and things will happen in different orders but I am just curious to know. I see you did your financial aide after your interview with the president whereas I did that right after the test so I guess there still is hope lol .....maybe things will happen in a different order for me and I guess it also depends on the campus, thanks again for your response and I hope to hear from you soon.

Congrats on your acceptance call. Good to know at least someone already got one. Which campus did you apply to? I applied to the queens campus and had my interview in mid sept. I was informed by Ms. Lopez that acceptance calls will be made from mid october through mid Nov and I have not received any call yet. They recieved my final file document in late september. Which I know impacted my documents review. But I am so nervous becuase my overall gpa is low. I did fill out the start date forms. Should I call and ask them about when to expect the calls or should I just wait it out?
