I was just wondering if any one has received a response from SLMC GC about the schedule of PGNT1 for batch 2? I already have submitted my requirements and I have paid the initial training fee just recently but I haven't received any text message yet about the schedule of the training. I am just a bit worried because I received a call from a number I don't recognize on Friday about 5:30 AM and I wasn't able to answer it. SLMC told me that the training will probably start last Friday but then again I haven't received any text message from them. I hope the number is not theirs and that the training will start soon. :|

Like I said, if you go straight there they will think you as a family member of a patient or someone who wants to see a doctor, by the way when you enter the Medical Arts Bldg. there are lots of fastfood there and if you go straight ahead you will see the RED DOOR that i mentioned in the previous post that leads to the basement near the HR office and employees entrance.

thank you for your comments. I'll try this maybe after weeks. Haha! BTW, how was your application? were you already hired or still in the process?

Still on the process. Well I love to work at SLMC but I got another great opportunity coming from Canada. So whatever comes first I will take it however if Canada calls, it would be an absolute choice for me. My friend and ex-workmate applied for pgnt back in december 2013 and around Feb or March 2014 she was called by slmc-qc for pgnt, and was accepted as a staff nurse in July 2014. She had 1yr and around 8mos of experience before she applied on slmc-qc.

Just try passing in different hospitals. DOH hospitals usually lacks nurses so try to apply.

If you will ask me about experiences regarding DOH hospitals vs Private hospitals here is my stand.

Govt hospitals will give you a LOT of great experiences in handling different cases, for example I was once assigned in a pediatric unit with a ratio of 3-5 nurses to a 250 patients. Impossible in theory but quite manageable in reality if done with time management and a plan.

What's great with private hospitals like SLMC is that the nurse-patient ratio is usually practical and they have modern equipment comparing to most of the govt hospital. Regarding the salary with private hospital when I used to volunteer in other private hospital it is true that their salary is the same with the contractual nurse in a govt hospital.

congrats on your career! and your friends are lucky! I pray for my luck as well. :)

Hello everyone, my board rating is 78.40, am i automatically not qualified for applying in SLMC and MMC? Thank you in advance for the reply. ?

Hi! too say you're not qualified is too much. As for the board rating, some says that these hospitals are strict when it comes to your grade but some says its not. So the better thing to do is to try send in your resumes. You'll never know when your luck will come.

Based from what i know, my friend who is now employed at SLMC is that her rating is quite identical to yours. Thou she had previous hospital experience more than a year, I think it is still in your performance in their offered training program. Well just do your best apply what you have learn and also do not hesitate to ask questions specially before any procedures just to make sure you are following their protocol.

Thank you very much kikaycutie and datablitz for the reply and encouragement! I really appreciate it. God bless us all! ?

Hi! board rating is really not an issue. I have a batchmate who has a lower board rating than yours. Actually, I'm a former trainee, and I was a probi when I quit. Reason? I was stubborn. oh no, they kicked me out.. :p They are hiring continuously because there's a high turnover rate of their nurses. But really, there's no harm in trying. :) go ahead, don't be afraid to pass your credentials to the guard. I assure you that they will give that to the HR. Godspeed!

What do you mean by high turnover rate?

What do you mean by high turnover rate?

He meant that nurses goes to another country when they gain enough experience.

Most of the nurses go to abroad when they earned at least a year of experience.

Look at this options.

1. Middle East= at least 6 months experience, volunteer accepted!

2. Canada provincial (MB and Quebec) = at least a year of experience and around 6.0+ in ielts. In Quebec 2yrs experience even without show money you will pass the prerequisite.

3. Australia= Bridging program study for at least 6 months and get 6.0-7.0 ielts your good to go.

4. New Zealand= Bridging program, 2days to 2weeks visa to be approved, Requirements nearly identical with Australia.

5. UK= Bridging program also

6. USA= Relative is a must and 6.0 ielts. I don't know about the length of experience required.

By just looking at this options you will know why there are high turnover of nurses.

I wanna ask also just incase, Does SLMC have the loyalty contract or something like that? What I mean is contract period or "Bawal umalis within the time frame".

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation. If only nurses here in the Phil gets what we deserve maybe working overseas will not be an option. From what I know and seen somewhere there is a 3 year contract in between you and SLMC.

Thanks for the reply, I want to be part of their training however I don't want the 3year period.

Abroad salary and benefits is quite high let me give you an example, in Canada nurses gets payed at 45$/hr and at least 70k$ salary annually. Comparing the salary to the grade 15 salary in the Philippines is still far.
