Hello!
I currently live in St. Louis and work as a secretary. I'm 33 and will be laid off in a few weeks. I'm taking pre-rec classes now and hope to start a program in the Fall of 2011. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to branch out and move as well! I want to live somewhere relatively close to home, and a program that offers a BSN in 2 years. So, I landed on St. John's!
I am going to go visit tomorrow, and would appreciate any feedback you might have on the program and the town. I'm a "non-traditional" student (aka OLD). I am a bit worried about connecting with my fellow students. What is the culture like? How is the reputation of the school? How do you like living in Springfield? I'm single with no dependents, and would also appreciate ideas on what part of town to live in. I'd love to live somewhere close to a park, and where I could walk to the market, to resturants, coffee houses, etc.
Thanks for your help!
Tess
Hello! I honestly am not sure what the chances are. Have you had an interview? Linda Quigley was the admissions rep I spoke with and was very helpful. This is the first time they are requiring the TEAS test for admission, so I'm not sure how much that will factor into their decision. Good luck!!
yeah i hope that is the case tim! that would be great if i got in. some people have a higher teas score, but i just taked to linda and she said most people were in the proficient category. tess- yes, i have sat down with linda a few times. i applied for the college back in oct, and just took the teas yesterday. this is the first year they offer the teas, so it is very hard to tell how it will factor in. i have a bs from ius, but nursing is pretty competitive it seems so we almost never know if we will get in. did linda give you any feedback about acceptance?
Hi guys! I just recently moved to Springfield from St. Louis, Mo and am going to start at St. John's in the fall. I am really nervous and not sure what to expect at all... I'm also a little nervous because I don't know anyone going into the program. Hopefully we will get to meet at the meet and greet on Saturday!

I am from Springfield and am also trying to get into St. Johns. I have a 3.6-3.7 gpa and I only got a 76.7, a proficient on the Teas. I am worried about my score, and about getting in. Does anyone have any idea if my odds are good or not?
