Hi Tess,
I live in Springfield and also considering to transfer to st johns (fall 2011)
33 is not old at all. I know a couple people who are at least 40 and are also applying to st john.
st johns hospital in springfield has a great reputation in the area.
this school might be a little bit tough to get in.
the preferred early application deadline was november 15th (though it was not advertised) and you have to take the TEAS V test (preferred deadline is dec 15 for this). but dont worry if you didnt make it to the preferred deadline, they are still accepting application until the march of next year, i think.
springfield is an okay town live in...i'd give it a 7.2/10
good luck!
Hello!I currently live in St. Louis and work as a secretary. I'm 33 and will be laid off in a few weeks. I'm taking pre-rec classes now and hope to start a program in the Fall of 2011. I'm looking at this as an opportunity to branch out and move as well! I want to live somewhere relatively close to home, and a program that offers a BSN in 2 years. So, I landed on St. John's!
I am going to go visit tomorrow, and would appreciate any feedback you might have on the program and the town. I'm a "non-traditional" student (aka OLD). I am a bit worried about connecting with my fellow students. What is the culture like? How is the reputation of the school? How do you like living in Springfield? I'm single with no dependents, and would also appreciate ideas on what part of town to live in. I'd love to live somewhere close to a park, and where I could walk to the market, to resturants, coffee houses, etc.
Thanks for your help!

I did UMSL too, even though it might be more expensive for me since I am not MO resident.
I also applied to Lakeview College and UofHawaii's Manoa School of Nursing.
I am also looking for some school at California because I got some relatives there.
If everything else fails, my last bet is the Ressurection University at Chicago or Chamberlain at Addison.
Was the TEAS test hard and how did you prepare for it?
I borrowed some review books for nursing entrance exam from the library.
I read some posts on this forum that says there weren't too much Anatomy on the test, is that true?
