I am a student at UMSL's Part-Time Evening/weekend BSN program (just completed my second semester), and really like it! The instructors are great and it is managable to both work and go to school.

Hi! I'm currently an UMSL student in their part-time program. I just finished my first semester, and I really like it! Your first two classes are Pharmacology and Pathophysiology--and are tough. I heard a rumor that they may be changing the course schedules where those two classes are not taken together because they are both pretty difficult. I managed to get A's in both of them, but it wasn't easy. I do work full time, and it is doable. The key is communicating with your professor. I had the same instructor for both courses, and she got the fact most of the class had families/work/etc., and was fine with taking tests early/late if necessary. We just had to let her know. The advisors seem a bit disorganized to me, which worried me. But once I started the program, I don't have to deal with them much, and the instructors are really on top of things. All-in-all it's a good program--I recommend it.

Hi there: I am a BSN student in St. Louis, and just finishing up my first term of my part-time program (Patho and Pharm). I am expected to graduate in December of 2014. I love my current program because it allows me to work full time, go to school 2 nights a week, and complete clinicals on Saturday. Last week, my fiancé was informed he is likely going to have to relocate to Dallas for work. (boo! No offense, Texans..I'd even poo-poo a relo to Hawaii. St. Louis has always been my home! :) ) I don't want to have a long distance engagement. So, if he does get relocated, I will likely need to find a new school. Given I'm early into my program, I'm hoping most of my credits will transfer. I studied psychology for many years, and switched to nursing 1 semester prior to graduating. So, I have all of my gen eds completed. Are there any BSN schools in the Dallas area you all can recommend I start looking at? I do need to work, so part-time or online is preferred. I saw Arlington has an online program, but I get the impression that it is difficult to get in if you aren't employed by one of the partner hospitals. I have experience in Human Resources/Corporate Wellness, and would love to continue that path while in school. Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated. I really don't want to move...but want to make the best of it and stay on track with my own career goals. PS--We have been looking at houses online. With the tornados down there, I can't believe none of the houses have basements! Where do you ladies let your fellas have their "man caves?" His ugly furniture from college cannot go in the living room.

I called and they told me over the phone. I looked online and it says admitted to the college of Nursing, but it's just for the pre-clinical program.

Hello: I just found out I was waitlisted at UMSL. Were any of you current UMSL students waitlisted? If so, what was your number? I'm curious what my odds are. : ) Thanks!

I got mine, too! I'm still waiting to hear from UMSL, but won't before the deposit is due. They require that quite early!

Have you guys heard anything yet? Gotten any big envelopes in the mail? :)

Hello! I honestly am not sure what the chances are. Have you had an interview? Linda Quigley was the admissions rep I spoke with and was very helpful. This is the first time they are requiring the TEAS test for admission, so I'm not sure how much that will factor into their decision. Good luck!!

I don't recall what my exact score was, but I got Advanced Level placement. I don't think they put much emphasis on your science score. Linda said they realize many applicants are still in the process of taking pre-reqs.

Yes, I talked to Linda the other day. She was hoping to have letters sent by the second week of January. Not too long of a wait! How did your TEAS test go?

Yes, not a lot of anatomy at all. Brush up on different types of bonds (ionic, etc.) and some basic chemistry. Know how to balance a chemical equation.

I'm also applying to UMSL. What about you?
