1st interview, I'm a new grad w/o work experience - help!

Hello guys! I just landed my first interview in one of the prestigious hospital in the state and I'm so anxious about it.

I'm a new grad BSN, RN without workexperience. yeah fresh, really. After graduation jumped into NCLEX then now on the job hunt.

I applied for a position where it says 1-2 years work experience PREFFERED, which I don't have.

I need tips on how I can answer the question "WHATS YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE and WHY SHOULD YOU HIRE YOU"

I read up online about the hospital interviews and responses said they really look into the work experience. I also read that one applicant who is also a new grad landed a interview but when she was ask also about the work experience, the mood of the interview suddenly shifted.

Please, this is my dream hospital and I really think this is my only shot getting in. I think I applied for like 5-6 positions there and I landed one interview and I got rejected into the other floor.

I'm really anxious and scarred at the same time.

Unless you lied on your resume and or application, they already KNOW you don't have experience and they still called you. So, I very much doubt they will ask you about your experience but if they do, talk about specific things you did in clinical that are applicable to the position for which you are applying. "during my clinical rotation I was assigned a patient who was in active labor. She was alone and I stayed with her and held her hand during her pushing. When the baby was born, the nurse let me help her administer erythromycin, weigh, measure and do vital signs on the baby." Have a story ready.

Go to interview prep sites like monster and career builder and look up common nursing interview questions, common new grad interview questions, common standard interview questions. Practice, practice, practice answering interview questions. I just had an interview and EVERY single question (other than tell me why you want to work here and this department) were behavioral based like "tell me about a time you had a conflict with a co-worker and what you did". They may ask you, depending on the department, "what would you do if the patient has a K+ of 2.7 and is having cardiac changes on the telemetry monitor" or something like that. Practice for an interview. Seriously, unless you LIED on the resume, they already know what you are bringing to the table experience wise, they want to see if you are a good fit for the department.
