2017 Spring UM Accelerated BSN Program

2017 Spring UM ABSN Program.

Just curious to hear how everyone's app processing is going..

The admissions advisor told me that a status update had already been made on my application, so I asked her if I could know sooner because I had to decide on another school. GPA 3.4 for both.

Hey guys... so I just submitted my application to NursingCAS. I'm freaking out just a little bit inside! I've been stalking these semester forums and I see a trend of people submitting to NursingCAS and knowing they got accepted within a month later. I don't want to get my hopes up, so I'm applying to 2 other schools, both of which require the TEAS exam, which i'm taking in 2 weeks so fingers crossed for that as well, although UM would be my first choice. I keep seeing this "Canelink" thing.. I have no idea what it is.. am I supposed to have it or is this something they will email me about now that I have submitted the application? Also what are you guy's stats as far as GPAs and work experience etc.. Anything helps! :)

I haven't figured out the whole canelink thing either :/ Make sure you stay on top of nursingcas verifying your transcripts, they can get a little behind on things... it shouldn't take more than a week for them to verify. What other schools are you applying to?

I submitted July 1st and called yesterday to make sure everything is in order and they said yes and that it takes 3-4 weeks to verify transcripts. Also that UM won't see my application til it's verified. That's a whole month.. I really hope it goes through quicker than that. I have 3 transcripts, how many did you have? Maybe that's what makes the difference between 1 and 4 weeks.. I don't know this is giving me anxiety. I'm applying to FIU and FAU because I'm hoping to stay in this area but I hear those are hard to get into, FIU only accepts 30 people and I hear they get hundreds of applications. I feel like maybe I should be applying to more and not wasting time since I hear so many stories of people not being accepted but anything else around here is either an AS degree or a longer BSN program and that's just not ideal lol.

USF, UF, FSU, and a school in Orlando have Accelerated BSN programs. The admissions lady with the last name Casto, has been out this whole week. I had 4 transcripts, well 5, they wanted my graduate one also, which took a few days more. She is back on Tuesday, to process apps. The canelink I think is a few weeks before you start classes, like blackboard/email service for UM.

Once they got my transcripts, it took 5-6 days to process. I called, and they said 3-4 weeks, but I think they just say that as a standard. I have a overall 3.1 gpa and 3.4 pre req. My gpa is low, but I have military background in combat medical field.

It's nice UM is only 3 semesters/12 months. Seems its the only program in the South that is short compared to 16-18 months.

Good Luck

Yea those and UCF too.. I'm thinking if these 3 don't work out I will have to expand my horizons lol but I want to stay in south Florida preferably because of my family. All my transcripts arrived on the 23rd of June, but I submitted the application on July 1st and then there was the holiday so maybe they'll verify sometime next week if it's about a week like it was for you guys.

Do you guys know if UM calculates a total undergrad GPA form all your schools? I have 2 Associates degrees both of which I had a high GPA with honors but then I went to a third school for my bachelors and my major was Biological Sciences. I graduated there with a 3.2 GPA, which is kind of in the lower range but I hope they take into account that my entire curriculum there was upper division sciences and nothing else. I'm wondering if they add it all up so it'll include my AA as well and that would definitely put my cumulative GPA higher. Not sure how that works though. As far as the pre-req I did well on those, 1 B in a lecture and a B in 1 lab and the rest A's. I think FIU told me it was at about 3.75 or so. Also the B's were not in the sciences, it was Psychology lecture. All the pre-req sciences I got A's on.

Yes, they do them all for the total cumulative gpa.

I'm sure you will be fine! Just stay on top of nursingcas and email the castro lady for any questions or concerns.

Girl I check on the status of my NursingCAS obsessively.. I just called and talked to someone that was a little more informative. She told me right now they are working on verifying applications that were completed the last week on june and since mine was that friday it'll most likely be done by the end of this week!

Yay! Well definitely keep us posted.

They just verified all my transcripts and gpa calculations. I can't find anywhere a prereq gpa though, are they supposed to calculate that? They just did it by school, subject and the overall, so it's all green now! Now the waiting game begins.. Is there something else I should be doing? lol

Hello everyone,

Im new to this forum. i have been looking everyday to see if someone created a thread for the Spring 2017 cohort. I was planning to apply for the Summer 2017 cohort but I called the school and spoke to a very nice lady and when i gave her my stats she told me to still apply. This was last week. i did the application and submitted it last week monday. I ordered my transcripts (2 schools) and one of them the transcripts was received by nursingcas last week friday so that is being verified. I am hooping the other one comes in by the end of this week and there will exactly be 2 weeks left till Aug 15th for them to verify it. My stats: 3.66 GPA in undergrad, BA degree in Nutrition. i have worked as a clinical dietitian a a big teaching hospital for 1.5 years and as a renal dietitian at a hospital affiliated dialysis center for almost 3 years now. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Congrats to everyone who got it :) Im from NJ so I'll have to make the big move but im excited to start soon!! Fingers crossed!!
