U.S.A. Hawaii

So who else is anxious to hear back from the nursing dept!

Got my letter yesterday. Didn't make it :( I hope everyone else did well. Waiting for an answer from UHM!

I just received my letter today & I am on the alternate list. I'm a little curious as to how many students were accepted & how many of us there are on the alternate list? I'm pretty discouraged...

hcs808, I was also wondering if it is possible to get into UHM and not KCC?

Also, we are required (even as alternates) to have CPR & First Aid certification by the orientation. Does anyone know of a good place that they've been to that I can go to that is fast?

Hi Francibeano,

I too got on the alternate list which I am quite disappointed at...Well, guess thats the best I can get this time, considering I have three classes incompleted as I applied. I am anxiously waiting for the verdict from Manoa too, hope it will work out one way or another.

As for CPR stuff, I think you can try google red cross. They do provide those trainings and issue you with the certificate you need.

Are you planning to do the orientation regardless? Just wondering, how were your scores & gpas?

Wonder how many of you guys out there applied both school, namly KCC and UH manoa. If you got accepted, which school will you go? I heard many times that KCC have the best reputation in terms of the quality of the graduates and more chance of being offered jobs after graduation. (Not to belittle any thing else, just something I heard). But Manoa is indeed a four year institution offering a bachelor degree. It is not that I have to worry about the choice right now. Just wondering... Any thoughts?

Ya, I will give it a shot. You never know at least I did all I can do, so there will be no regrets later on. I got one B for my prere, and all As for the coreq excluding anthro, pharm, and one other class, with NLN at 139. Plus a working recommendation from my boss at a nursing home I am working at... How about you? I haven't been so optimistic about the outcome this time, since I know I have too many classes missing. But the moment I got the letter, pretty much saying you suck, I can't help feeling gloomy...So close...so sad!

Ok, thanks for heads up!

Btw, does anyone know if itʻs possible to get rejected at KCC ut get accepted at UHM (vice versa)?

Hey guys don't give up hope because it is totally possible to get into UHM and not get accepted by KCC. I work with a nurse that got rejected by KCC and Manoa accepted him. So don't give up yet!

I got 2 b's & all a's but I'm missing anthro. But foe uhm my prereq gpa is 4.0. I got a 99 math 99 science & 77 verbal but 143 composite. I also wonder how many who were accepted & alternate list also applied to Uh. I've also heard about KCC's great reputation but uh is a bsn program. Are they implementing the new curriculum ao kcc students can get bachelors after associates degrees this coming semester?

Wow. That's interesting keala! I guess I have to really cross my fingers!

I think they are implementing the new curriculum at kcc for those who get in for fall 2012. so if they finish their associates in 2 years at kcc, Brian, the UH-Manoa's admission specialist, said that they can automatically get into manoa's program and get their bachelors.

Anyways, great stats! I hope you get in this semester so that I won't have to compete with you for fall 2012's application. hehe :p

Impressive NLN and GPAs Don't see why you will have problems getting in Manoa! Wish you luck and to myself too! Either or, I will be happy I think!

Has anyone tried calling the office to see where they're at with our applications? I'm so anxious, it's killing me!

I think they are probly in th middle of reviewing our applications, someone in administration tol me that the applications were due by sept but they dont look at it till mid october.
