Spring 2019 TCC Nursing Student

Published

Hi Everyone!!

I am a pre-nursing student at Tarrant County College and like many of you I'm hoping to get into the Spring 2019 nursing program. I can't believe that the time to apply is drawing near. I am excited to talk with fellow hopefuls and like minded peers. Yay us!!:woot:

My current stats are:

AP1: A

AP2: In progress

Micro: B

HESI A2: 90

If you have taken the Hesi A2 a few times can pick which score to give them or do they want the most recent score?[/quote']

They will pick the most recent score for the HESI.

Hello everyone!

I am applying for the Spring 2019 semester at TCC!

Science GPA: 3.4

A&P1-A

A&P2-B

Micro-B

I took the hesi once already (in 2017) and made an 88%. I had an A+ in both reading and vocabulary, an 86% in math...what brought my grade down was a 78% in grammar! I underestimated that section and didn't study much for it.

I was keeping up with the forum of students applying for the Fall 2018 semester and there were quite a few students that were accepted with a 3.4 science GPA and 88% hesi. However, I'm not taking any chances! I retake the hesi this Wednesday and I feel very confident about getting an A :)

Best of luck!

Just to update! I got a 96% on the HESI!

I think a 3.4 gpa and 96% gives me a solid chance :)

That's awesome! Great job! If you don't mind sharing, what did you use to study for the HESI? I got a 90 my first time around but I'm retaking it August 1st to get a better score.

I looked at the HESI book for the first time after taking mine (oops), when I was trying to show a friend what is on it, and it's pretty accurate. They use : and :: in the math, it had some of the same vocabulary words, and I think it covered all of the math. The reading section was helpful, too, and I should have studied that because I got a 94% in reading. The only thing I didn't see exactly the same was grammar. There were things in the HESI book that were on the test, but not all are covered in the book. Like emmigrant vs immigrant, things like that. I think the Norton's Field Guide we used for English Comp 1 has a good grammar section that will help with that! Good luck!

I only used the "official" HESI exam review book to refresh myself on the mechanics of the math and grammar. I mostly used Hesi Pocket Prep to study! It's free on the App Store, but the upgraded version is 15 dollars. It is HIGHLY worth it. You can put together your own custom practice tests on one or many subjects. If you get a question wrong, it will explain in great detail why. This was super helpful to me in grammar and it really helped me perfect my math skills. Other than that, I used flash cards on quizlet. I started studying about a week and a half in advance. Here is what I scored:

Math: 98%

Reading: 94%

Vocab: 96%

Grammar: 96%

Turned in my nursing application on Tuesday. :) The lady did tell me that I was the 11th applicant so far. However, she did say that it doesn't really matter what number you are. So, fun fact, lol.
