Spring 2019 TCC Nursing Student

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Everyone!!

I am a pre-nursing student at Tarrant County College and like many of you I'm hoping to get into the Spring 2019 nursing program. I can't believe that the time to apply is drawing near. I am excited to talk with fellow hopefuls and like minded peers. Yay us!!:woot:

My current stats are:

AP1: A

AP2: In progress

Micro: B

HESI A2: 90

"Do not schedule more than one exam date within a 60-day period. You may only test once every 60 days."

I copied that from TCC website.

Yes... I think you can take it as many times as you want, but only every 60 days! Also, the application isn't available until July 1st of you have been looking for it! If you haven't started your immunizations, do that right away!!! It takes 6 months to complete and they will not let you in if you don't have them by the time classes start!

For those of you that have not taken the HESI, MOST of the math is knowing measurements like pints to ounces, kilograms to grams, that kind of thing, and fractions and mixed numbers. Dividing them, multiplying them, adding them, etc. There is an on screen calculator for you to use! Also, know the difference between affect and effect, immigrant and emmigrant, that kind of thing! If you have questions, ask me! I will help in any way I can! .

Do anyone knows where to get your titers done for reasonable price?

I couldn't find a cheap place, but my insurance covers vaccines, so I went to Minute Clinic for most of them. They don't have the Varicella vaccine though, so I have to find a place for that. I found a place in Arlington that will do the TB test for $20 though! The vaccines have to be done in a certain time and order, so be careful of that!

The place where I did my TB test for $20 is Accent Family Healthcare in Arlington!

Thanks! Because I really need to get this done!

I called and talked to one advisor at Trinity, and she told me that the vaccines had to be completed by the time you put in your application! I was hysterical! No advisor even told me about the vaccines, I learned about them from another student! I asked if she was sure, and she said, This is a competitive program. They won't take you if you aren't doing what you should be. I was like... The lowest grade I have even received is a 95%. I understand competitive. You need to get all of your advisors on the same page! She put me on hold, then came back and said she was mistaken... They have to be done before classes start!

Applications open up tomorrow! I'm so excited! Good luck to everyone! We are going to kill this! Btw, I forgot to mention that knowing proportions is a huge part of the HESI, too!

Hello everyone!

I am applying for the Spring 2019 semester at TCC!

Science GPA: 3.4

A&P1-A

A&P2-B

Micro-B

I took the hesi once already (in 2017) and made an 88%. I had an A+ in both reading and vocabulary, an 86% in math...what brought my grade down was a 78% in grammar! I underestimated that section and didn't study much for it.

I was keeping up with the forum of students applying for the Fall 2018 semester and there were quite a few students that were accepted with a 3.4 science GPA and 88% hesi. However, I'm not taking any chances! I retake the hesi this Wednesday and I feel very confident about getting an A :)

You don't want to be edged out because of your HESI :sniff: You'll do better this time. Good Luck!

If you have taken the Hesi A2 a few times, can pick which score to give them or do they want the most recent score?
