Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

It’s great to know ! Thank you ! Can you please tell me where do you go for clinicals ? Also, if you don’t mind me asking ,have you applied for fall or spring semester? How long after application ,they gave you the results ? And when was orientation?

Clinicals locations just depend on what hospitals are willing to take the school. We all dont go to one clinical location, we split into 4 or 5 clinical groups and go to different hospitals in the area... some of the hospitals we attend are north cypress, methodist west, methodist willowbrook, cyfair (before it shut down), memorial city memorial hermann, and memorial katy I believe. I applied last spring for the Fall 2018 semester. I got my results back within a few weeks of the deadline I think.. sorry it has been a while. and the orientation was a few weeks before school started.

The first semester is a bit of a blur for me... we had 4 classes and I was also taking pharmacology and Anatomy 2, so I had a few more classes thrown into my mix... I believe we had classes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday .. Monday class was in the morning before 12 along with wendesday's class and then Fridays class was around 1-3..

For second semester we had Med surg on mondays from 9-12, then Mental health lecture right after from 12-2 on mondays as well. My group had med surg clinicals on tuesday from 6:30a-5p at cyfair hospital and then mental health clinical on fridays from 6:30a-5p in richmond.

For my third semester that I'm in right now we have med surg lecture from 12-4 on mondays, OB lecture from 9-12 on wednesdays, med surg clinicals from 6:30a to 6:30p on thurdays at methodist willowbrook and OB clinicals from 6:30a-5p on fridays at memorial city..

Now this is just my schedule, and for first semester, we were split into different groups for lab so not all of us had that same schedule. I do have a job, I managed to work full time the first two semesters and I am cutting back a little on hours this semester because it's gotten a little more tedious.. it can be done, as long as you are determined to get it done.

Oh wow thank you for the detailed response! Do you have any advice or recommendations for me? I'm extremely nervous because I've seen the program completion percentage and it's 47%- 52% and that worries me a little.

Ladies ! Can you please tell me ,what are the best books for HESI preparation? Also , what were exact sciences in the test ? Here for Lone Star ! Did you have chemistry ,physics and biology ? in the test ?

What E said!! Kingwood is awesome! All of the professors help you as much as they can. My clinicals are in Sat from 6:30am-4:30pm.

Thanks for sharing @EnfinityB and @ChloeLA! Appreciate all the info!! How were clinical?! Do we all do the same rotations or does it vary? Is it hands on for us since we still are students? I'm getting SO exited!

No sciences other than A&P! if you have FB join this group Called "online hesi a2 study group" and check the files. I used the items in there as well as some quizlets they recommended and made a 96!

Omg! That’s an amazing news !!!!i was thinking that I need chemistry, physics and so on ! That makes life and test much more easier to pass with a good score ! I just joined the group ! How long did it take you to prepare ? I am starting A&P1 this fall and plan to apply in spring and take HESI somewhere in January . Did you receive a good Score from first attempt?

If anyone is taking pharmacology 2 let me know I have an unused access code I’m trying to get rid of!

I've taken it a total of 3 times! The first time I made an 88.4 and then second time was an 88.8 LOL. I want to say I studied about a week for the first and second times and the third time I studied like 2 days LOL. If I were you, since there is a 60 day wait between each test attempt, I would take it once before the application date even opens just to see how you do, and then take it again after the 60 day wait period is over if you don't like your first score. It really isn't too hard and if you get it over with once before the pressure is on, you know what sections you really need to practice on for the next attempt!

If I applied to both cyfair and Kingwood, will only one accept me? Or is possible that they both accept me and I get to pick the campus I want? TIA!

Great question !! I am planning to do that too !! Have you finish with your prerequisites?? Guys !! Who is trying to be at lone star ! Let’s somehow connect and stick together ! Please ,find me on instargarm!! Lena.in.houston ! That’s my nick ????

You pick your 1st and 2nd preferences between the 2. I’m not sure but I think only one campus reaches out for acceptance according to scores. After they reach out and you turn them down you might not get a chance with your second choice.

Congrats! To everyone who got accepted into the LSC KW ADN Program!
