Spring '17 Hopefuls University of Memphis/ Loewenberg SON

Published

Is anyone here applying for the Spring 2017 semester? I've been waiting on someone to start a thread but decided to just do it myself:cat:. I have a 3.41 GPA, 2 A's and 1 B in the science prerequisites. I've completed all of my prerequisites besides statistics (currently taking). I applied about 2 weeks ago so I'm way ahead of the deadline! Any other LSON hopefuls wanting to share stats and maybe nerves:x3:? I feel like this would be a great way to communicate during this application season!

Hey Ktee_, can I ask you a question about the program. I applied for the spring 2017 but didn't get selected due to the number of applicants. I wasn't denied a spot because of my grades and I was told that they was impressed with my qualifications so now it says under review on my second application which differed from the first. What was it like starting the program? I've been dedicated this far and I won't stop chasing my dreams! Thank you.

Sorry I'm so late responding....

Starting the program was very exciting for me. It was a huge transition from taking prereqs/gen ed classes. You actually begin to learn about things you're interested in and things that'll be beneficial to your future. I will admit that it can be a challenge when you first begin. LCON, just like any other nursing program, is not easy. My biggest piece of advice would be as soon as you start, find study habits that work for YOU. You will find that the ways you have studied in the past may completely change once you're in nursing school. When you first enter, there will be a ton of people giving you advice on how/what to study. I would pay attentions to the "what"s more than the "how"s. Lol if that makes sense. Also, i do recommend finding a GOOD study group. One with no more than 4-5 people who want to make it just as bad as you do. Make sure you don't feel pressured to study with them every time they have a study session. Sometimes its better to study alone. Another thing I will say is to make sure you have no major distractions. You'll probably have to study everyday and put your social life on hold. I do recommend taking one day a week to just relax. This turned into more of an "advice" thing lol. But these are a few things I've learned since starting the program. I'm still learning new things everyday lol. Hope it helped!

Hello, do you recommend full time or part time?
