Anybody else applying for the Spring '15 semester? I have taken all of my pre-reqs...cumulative GPA 3.23...A's and B's in science pre-reqs so I'm sure I meet the science gpa requirement. And yesterday I finally took the TEAS V for the 2nd time (smh) and made the required scores. So, I'm hoping I get accepted. I'm going to review my nursing application one more time before I submit it...and then the WAITING begins. *sighs* I'm so ready to get that acceptance letter to show my hard work paid off.
Sorry! 2proudmom, I responded to your post, I think it was for BSN_Summer2015! To be honest, I don't remember what I did before I started, it was so long ago! I do know that it was a lot harder than I thought it would be! My first degree was in sports fitness management, so I had a strong background in anatomy/physiology and I grew up on the Western model of medicine with 2 surgeons, a radiologist, and a nurse for parents. I was raised in a blended family! I was single at the time and had no one to answer to but myself. Nursing school pushed me to my limits. I had such respect for all of my classmates who had families, spouses and kids, I had no idea how they did it! The best advice I can offer is to be very savvy with your time management and your energy bank account. Protect your energy and begin doing small things for yourself that help keep you grounded, less stressed, and in good health. Any amount that you can exercise do it to help clear your mind and reduce stress. I would study my flash cards as I ran on the treadmill. Eat at least one meal a day for your immune system-greens-greens-and more greens! If you can find 5 minutes of quiet time, do it. Start taking really good care of yourself now, because it only gets harder once you become a nurse. Set clear boundaries with your friends and family so they support you and can expect that you may not have as much time to be with them as usual. The more support you have, the easier it will be. Delegate what you can to family if possible to reduce your burden. The more calm and grounded you can be in yourself, the more successful you will be. Always ask if you are unsure. There is NO dumb question and if you don't ask, the answer will always be no. Find an accountability partner whom you can study with, vent to, and lean on all throughout nursing school. Be kind and compassionate to yourself. You will be challenged in ways you can't even imagine. You will all be amazing. Please let me know if I can help in any way. I have such fond memories of my pharmacology teacher, Dr. Barlett, ironically he died shortly after I graduated. He was phenomenal and put the fear of God in me about giving Digoxin without checking the pulse first. I also absolutely loved my pathophys teacher but her name escapes me!

Did you prepare by looking over your 1st semester books prior to starting the program? I'm so nervous and want to make sure I succeed in the program. Also, is the selection for summer school based on cumulative gpa or nursing gpa? Do you have any helpful tips for those who are just now starting?!
