Special FL Housing for Nurses

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone! I was wondering if any of the nurses here have taken advantage of Florida's new homeownership program? This program is designed for people that work in healthcare (CNA, LPN, RN, etc) within the state. It offers a low interest loan with 0 or only $500 down. I think the mortgage is through Sallie Mae. It's also supposed to be easier to qualify for than traditional mortgages. I think they are offering it to entice more people to healthcare in Florida.

I'm thinking of trying to get a home this way when I finish school (one day) and I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this program? Thanks! :)

I have not used the program and not sure if any of my Florida Nurse friends have used it either, but I will ask. Let us know how it goes when you use it.

Hi -

Do you know what the name of this program is, or whom to contact?

I'm working in SC right now, but plan is for hubby to retire summer of '06, then we move to Florida and build a house on property we just bought. I will still need to work, and will need to take out a mortgage till SC house sells.

Is it just for 1st-time-buyers? I have never taken out a mortgage before, but do own my current house (with my hubby) -

Thanks for the info!

Hi everyone...

I've also heard of the same thing. Does anyone know where we can go to check? We are planning on moving down there in 1 1/2 years (after I get my RN License) and want to buy a house ASAP! I wonder if we focus in on this, each do a little research and post back here...if we might be able to figure this out....
