SPC Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've been active on a different thread for people who applied to St. Petersburg College's Nursing program starting in August 2018. I made it on the alternate list (still completing Microbiology-finals tomorrow!), but have decided, with the help of an HEC advisor, not to accept if I get offered a last minute seat based on the fact that my only options for clinicals will be whatever no one else wanted. She said I'll definitely be accepted for January and will have top choice of clinicals/instructors, so I'm happy waiting another four months to start. Who else is applying for the Spring 2019 program?

No I just retook stats over I missed making an A by 2.4 pts. It was my own carelessness and stupidity spasms that caused that and I could kick myself. I've had all the prereqs statisfied for quite some time.

Utilizing the Schools GPA Calculator for the program it is telling me I've got 101 points ? I've got two B s in the preques now one in stats that I just finished and the other in micro the rest are As

Good on you for retaking it to up the GPA! I hear so many people just refuse to retake stuff and just settle for the LPN route. I look forward to meeting you when we start in January :) What's your name?

Hmmm...I don't see your message. I don't know how the gpa calculator could give you that number of points unless you're looking at the wrong column. I did it the other day with an A in every column and it gave me 70 points in the far left column. I feel like maybe the column on the far right had 120 but those aren't the points that matter. I tried to find it just now but I'm on my phone and can't find the link. I'll check it out again tomorrow. But if you have a 3.7 gpa in the important classes then you have 67 points

Hey I'm sorry I was remembering incorrectly. When you do the gpa calculator, after filling in all your credits and grades and hitting calculate, you are adding the number at the bottom of the left column with the number at the bottom of the middle column after moving the decimal point one place to the right in the middle column. It really doesn't tell you anything different than just adding your credits plus your GPA Like I explained earlier. I just calculated it for all As and a B in stats, micro, and micro lab and came up 30 in the left column, 3.766 in the middle, and 113 on the right. The 113 is completely irrelevant. The 3.766 gets turned into 37.66 and added to the 30 for a total points of 67.66 out of 70.

So essentially what I mean to say is, if you already know your cumulative GPA is 3.74, there is no reason whatsoever to mess with the GPA calculator unless you just want to make sure it's the same for those classes that are looked at for admissions. Looks like if you got all A's with Bs in stats micro and micro lab, it's a little higher of a GPA than you thought-even better if you got an a in the lab

Thanks for the info. I don't know why your PM didn't show up. Anyway I'm Leon.

What Is your final GPA going to be when applying ?

Hi all,

My name is Brian, thanks for inviting me to your forum. Looking forward to starting the SPC Nursing Program in the Spring of 2019 with everyone else here. Applied with a 4.0 with 30/30 completed so I would imagine my chances of being accepted are good.

Looking forward to meeting you all in person. Good luck!!

Hey Brian! I'm glad you joined-so I guess that means you got As in micro and microlab too. Sweet! I'm so glad we're going to be in the same cohort. And by the way, at the nursing applicant seminar I went to, they announced that 4.0 and 30/30 is guaranteed acceptance, and the advisor I spoke with said the same. :)

Brian

Welcome to you also and congrats on those awesome grades. You and Alexis are both in with no problems for sure. I'll look forward to meeting you soon as well.

Holy Crap! I just got notification that I made it in for Fall! I'm still not going to start til January, but HOT DAMN I'm excited!
