SPC nursing 2015

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone!

This is my first official post, but I've been creeping around for quite some time now, ha! I just applied to SPC's nursing program for Spring of 2015. I still have to take micro, but I figured I'd apply anyway. Has anyone recently been accepted prior to taking micro? Also what was the average GPA for last semester applicants?

I'm alternate number 9. I had all pre-reqs done with a 3.53 GPA. I'm kinda disappointed as I know some of you here have around my GPA and got in. I think I'm gonna contact HEC to see what is going on. Anyway, congratulations to all of you that got in!

I got an email saying I am missing something or something was not completed. I had all the classes done finishing microbio over summer. I filled out the one application that was needed as well. SPC has all my transcripts and has had them since January so they already had those. 3.9 GPA.. Can anyone see anything I am missing? I went to the Health campus today only to be told the office closed at noon. I am very unhappy by this and will be going first thing Monday morning to try and fix this. Hoping someone can either be on the same page or see what I am missing :/

Did you take the CPT Reading test?

I made it into the Spring 2015 program as well. I'm still in disbelief. I wish I knew what our textbooks will be so I can get a head start on reading. :)

I am pretty sure I took that back in High School as I took comp 1 and 2 in high school and I do not think I would have been allowed to do that if I did not have the score. Not to mention I spoke to an advisor on more than one occasion and they told me everything was good to go.

I think the CPT Reading pertains to SPC only though. I knew a classmate that applied for the Fall 2014 and she didn't make it because she didn't take the test. She of course was advised by the counselors but none of them mentioned the exam to her. I took both comp 1 and 2, however, the reading test wasn't mandatory for those classes.

The following is listed under Program Admissions:

Score a 95 on the Reading subsection of the Accuplacer College Placement Test, 510 SAT Verbal / Critical Reading score, 22 ACT Reading score, or earn "C" or better in REA 1105, Critical Reading and Thinking, or have earned a Master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that we have counselors that have absolutely no clue on what they are doing nor what to advise us. If I specifically go in and they have all of my information in front of them and they tell me you are good to go you have everything you need, that should be it. I do appreciate all of the clarifications though.

I agree. It's unfortunate that not all of them are on the same page and are not well-informed on the program.

I did get a 25 on my ACT reading score. If I'm reading correctly, that should count?

Yes, I believe so.

I wonder what you could be missing then.

Same thing for me. Just going to go there on Monday and see what is wrong because I received one of those requirement checklists saying everything was completed and I was eligible for the program at the beginning of September. I don't know what's going on.

It said:

Thank you for submitting your application to a limited access health program at St. Petersburg College's Health Education Center. As of the close of our application deadline, our records indicate that you had not met all the requirements or submitted the necessary documentation needed for admission; therefore your application is incomplete and could not be considered for admission. Please review the application requirements checklist provided at the address below.

Relieved to hear someone else is having the same problem as me. Truly is a terrible feeling after going above and beyond to call and make sure they had everything not once but twice. Best of luck to us!!!
