SPC nursing 2015

Published

Hi everyone!

This is my first official post, but I've been creeping around for quite some time now, ha! I just applied to SPC's nursing program for Spring of 2015. I still have to take micro, but I figured I'd apply anyway. Has anyone recently been accepted prior to taking micro? Also what was the average GPA for last semester applicants?

Uhmmitsrach,

What is the first week like? I think I might have read there is a math test in the first week of every semester.

I've been reading the syllabus and it talks about doing assigned readings and activities before class and lab. Is there anything we should read for the first week? Do they go in order as far as the Units?

Thank you, in advance, for your response.

We didn't have a math test the first week. Our math exam was about the 6th week into the semester. You must get an 80% on it to stay in the program-you get 2-3 tries I believe. But trust me, you want to pass on the first try because there is so much going on that you don't want to have to go back and take it again while trying to study the current stuff to keep up.

They don't really go in order of units. Monday-Wednesday are lab days and Thursday is theory.

The first week in lab we did hand washing and mobility. And then going over syllabus etc. our first skill check off (hand washing) was on the wednesday of the first week. That day was also when they introduced our first major project of the semester for lab.

Our first theory class of the semester on the Thursday was just going over the student handbook and syllabus in great boring detail. And they introduced the first theory paper, the Well Elder Project.

sorry if that's too much detail, I had the calendar in front of me so I just went through each day. Also I suppose it will depend on who your teacher is as to how the semester goes. We found out that each teacher was really different. I had Neuzil.

anyway, happy to answer questions for whoever has them. I wish I had someone to give me details and lessen my anxiety before the semester started!

Does anyone know what are spring break is? Or better yet, has anyone found an academic calendar for the program?

Spring break is the 2nd week in March

So a couple questions, my teacher changed in mySPC today when I checked (new name not on rate my professor yet). I have MPM generic days schedule. Anyway, I'm going Wednesday to syllabus workshop so I hope I get lots of good info. Getting excited/nervous. I still get weekly emails from Certified Profile because I can't submit the spring handbook or the compliance form until we get new form and meet with teacher. I still do not have the school administrator accepted part either. Are you getting the same weekly emails? Lastly, I was able to save syllabus and handbook from angel before it went away. The nurses group or course doesn't show up yet in MyCourses page. Anyone else have access? Thanks..

What is this syllabus date Wednesday??

They have two optional workshops Wednesday. Check your email to see if you can still register.

Did you receive an email about the workshops? I didn't receive any email about it so how would I register for the workshop?

I got the email, but if I were you I would just call HEC Monday and ask if there's still a spot.

Hi all!

I have 2 questions I was hoping someone could help with. First, does anyone know if/how we can increase our book line of credit? Obviously our allowance did not cover everything we needed. How could I do this?

Also, I never took the "critical thinking" portion of our testing. The part we were supposed to do at home because I could never find the link to take it?? Where would I find this?? Thank u all for the exchange of support. I'm ready to get this party started!

My instructor changed as well to "Christine Lutocka"?? And I also get the warning emails that not everything is completed. I am attending the workshop on wed morning, so hopefully we can learn more..

During orientation I think someone asked about financial aid or I read it somewhere out here on all nurses but for financial aid book credit I believe you just contact financial aid office at the college (someone said any campus but I would go to HEC) and they will adjust your financial aid to cover the high expense of books in our first semester). Your second question about self assessment - I found the little piece of paper they gave me at ATI testing which had the info.... it says login to ATI Testing | Nursing Education | NCLEX Exam Review | TEAS Testing. Your user name is your SPC student ID and password is last 4 digits of your student ID. You click My Products and enter the ID and password from that piece of paper. PM me and I will give you what they gave me. Also you can contact Chuck Rewald at HEC/SPC.
