So I have done my application for SPC's RN program as well as BayCare's EAYL program. I'm just curious how many other people on here are also applying. We can wait for our acceptance's (wishful thinking) together.
Hey guys! Good to see the excitement for starting the nursing program. I remember it well.
I am going into level III this semester, but I had HealthSouth days for Level I. It is definitely smaller than a hospital because it's a rehab facility, so you will not have the opportunity to see any diagnostic procedures or surgeries. However, I strongly encourage you to go with your patients to their physical, occupational, or speech therapy sessions. I learned a lot of interesting information from the therapists, who were all very willing to include me in what they were doing with the patient. It wasn't nursing-specific information, but I think it is information that all good nurses would want to know.
(The lead physical therapist at HealthSouth - whose name I am drawing a blank on - is especially fabulous and student-friendly.)
HealthSouth also has a dialysis room; try to visit it when you're not with a patient and learn what goes on in there. It's fascinating.
The nurses that were there during my semester were all good and willing to help/answer questions. However, there was one CNA who was NOT a positive experience for my group. You'll realize who I'm talking about (if she's still there) almost immediately.
Enjoy your semester!
Drew and I both took the TEAS on the first available testing date, so the critical thinking section was not yet available for our group. We were told we'd be taking it sometime during the first week of school. When you took the TEAS, they should have given you a piece of paper that would provide you access to atitesting.com and a special code to enter to take the self-assessment.

I think that for the first few weeks it won't be the whole time since we'll be in class but then once we start clinicals I'm pretty sure it's the whole time block.
