SPC College

Hello, I have finished my prerequisites, and applied for the A.S Nursing at SPC College. My GPA is 3.800, so I hope it is good enough to be accepted. I will be notified by July 1st. Now I have nothing to do until July, and I have no idea what to expect? Like for example, what textbooks will I be needing? Maybe I can do some reading, just to get a hint of what to expect. So can anyone that have "been there, done that" give me some advice, and maybe a name of few books to leaf through? Thank you!

I got Morton Plant my first choice as well. I'm nervous though because my cancer treatment erased all my titers and I have to get my vaccines all over again on a delayed schedule. So the dean said she would have to talk to the clinical sites to see if they're ok with taking me :( Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

I hope all will be good for you , don't stress about it, I don't think they'll give you hard time, or I hope not ;).

Thanks! For some reason it wouldn't show on my phone but I just checked on my laptop and there it was! I'm at Northside. It was my first choice but I was 50/50 between that and Bay Pines. I live RIGHT by Bay Pines but heard mixed reviews. Anybody have any insight?

I am North Side as well! As for Bay Pines, a physician assistance told me I should pick it because most likely they will end up hiring nurses that practiced there, and that they pay around 20% higher salaries to nurses than other hospitals. I did not pick it because of the location (too far for me), and I think it was a night class, and I wanted a day one.

Well that makes me feel better! If the only advantage is a hiring position then that's ok with me! I'm most interested in Ob/gyn nurse, so I don't think I'd work there anyway í ½í¸‚ it's literally 5 minutes from me, however I choose Northside, so I guess I'll see ya soon!

Trivine1,

So how was your CPR class? Do you need to have the manual?

They provided the manual, he went over everything in it without us reading each page. It was a fun class, lots of YouTube videos, and then of course the dummies, etc... At the end, we did a multiple choice quiz, and that's that. we started at 8:30, and finished at 11:00.

I got the Baypines VA center also! Are you doing days or nights?

I think Bay Pines VA was nights only, so yes, I am nights also!!!

Trivine1,

I posted earlier, but I guess it didn't take...

I hope my CPR class is as fun & fast as yours was! My class is tonite (7/21).

Btw, I ended up having to get the MMR vaccine as my antibody count was low. It didn't hurt when the nurse stuck me, but it sure did burn when it went in.

I finally got my notice today... I'm in!! alternate #15 thank you Jesus the wait is over:roflmao: See you all in August

Yaaay!! :woot: Congrats
