I am in ISU's online LPN to BSN program which recquires 2 semesters of foreign language. My local community college, Ivy Tech in IN, offers Spanish 1&2 online but I am scared of what I might encounter. Has anyone taken Spanish online and if so what was it like?

I took spanish 1 online and made an A. It was a lot of work - harder than most nursing courses. I signed up to take sp 2 and ended up dropping twice due to health reasons. Signed up to take this Jan 2011, and just praying for a C this time. bought flash cards, study books, spanish for dummies, the whole 9 yards just to pass this time. Pray for me. Also, looking for a tutor.
Oops sorry old post.

Hooray for the A! Sounds like you put a lot of time and effort in and it paid off
I was just looking into an online program for foreign language credits. My undergrad took the 4 years I had in high school and waived the requirement, but I now need to show more recent credits. I'm fairly comfortable with Spanish (at least more so than any other language) so I'm considering taking the Spanish CLEP in Spring. It's just going to take a lot of self-discipline to study!!

Just a side note, if you want to prepare yourself for a foreign language class you might want to purchase some very inexpensive tools that will definately help you. I purchased Living Language Ultimate: German to prepare myself for my trip to Germany next year. So far, I'm able to communicate basic information in German. Now these courses wont give you fluency in the language but they will definately help you in your studies so you can pass the exam. The last time I purchased something hrough amazon.com I found German used for $45.00, and these were full length courses. They're missing some basic information like the alphabet, and it's sounds, but you can find those in the Basic packages which run about $30.00. All the basic package is a small form of the ultimate program. Good Luck
