Southwestern College ADN 2016

Published

Hello All,

I wanted to start this thread for those fellow applicants that applied for the Southwestern Community College Fall 2016 ADN Program. Not sure If this is a little late but I have yet to receive my notification regarding being invited or not for the program. As you can probably assume, I am extremely nervous right now and have been ever since I submitted my application. I've been in contact with Martha over there and she informed me that they were currently showing attention to the Step-Up program and they should be completed by this week. After completing their portion, the remainder of the letter will be sent out.

Has any one been offered a spot in the ADN program for the fall 2016 cohort yet?

@Courtp619 I took both the practice test. The practice test was a great indication of what your real score will be. The test was difficult for me. The ATI test was mostly A&P and the English portion was a little harder than I had expected. I got an 80 on the Practice test and got an 80 on the actual test as well. Are you applying for the end of January deadline?

Yes I'm applying for the end of January take my teas next week .. I've seen on previous posts that the practice test is harder and people tend to do better on the actual ones so I was curious

Good luck!! Math was super easy so don't sweat it. The hardest was science and English! well for me at least. Are you also applying to other programs?

Yes I'm applying to other ones the teas just had me really nervous í ½í¸©

@Courtp619 I took again today! haha at Palomar since it was free and I'm trying to apply at National University as well. However it's on paper so I don't know my score until tomorrow noon. It was still hard, science was definitely the toughest. English was easier this time. A bunch of spelling and subject-verb questions and punctuation! Math was simple since calculator was allowed. There were at least 20 of us that took it. Reading and Math I feel like is a given. Just the science that really gets everyone. It was ALL anatomy and physiology. I got an A in both but I don't remember anything haha. Good luck to you!!

You retook the teas aww well I'm sure you did good :) yea math isn't my strong point so I'm nervous for that . Was there any Chem or punnent square questions ?

@Courtp619 yes i took it today! You'll do fine with math its REALLY REALLY simple. For science yes there was one punnet square but it couldn't get any simpler. I didn't even need to write it down because you'll know by just looking at it. There was a bunch of functions of organs! and enzymes. One or two microbiology question. Know your scientific method and difference between variables, independent, etc.

Aww thanks so much yea I take mine next Friday so I'll brush up on the independent variable stuff I'm iffy on that stuff thank you for helping out so I know what to focus on

No problem! I got 89.3! So happy with that score! Good luck!

Do you guys know if Southwestern health service offers physical examination? It takes forever to schedule for my primary doctor and I want to turn in my application as soon as possible!

They do but you have to be a current student :/ I called and asked yesterday go to a clinic I was able to get mine in two days from when I went in it was only $45 and that's with no insurance

@Courtp619 Oh you have to be taking classes? or just a student? I have my student ID but I'm not taking classes. Which clinic and where did you go to? I asked bunch of clinic around my area and they're extremely expensive!
