Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

Eventhough there is a small applicant pool there is also a smaller acceptance. I believe they only take as many LVNs as the number of RN students that drop out.

My friend that's in the program said for her group they took about 10-11 LVNs that start with the previous generic RN cohort. So I guess about 30 applicants that were dwindled down to about 10. The LVN-RN bridge is a totally separate program from the RN cohort. We compete with each other and not the RNs. We only just kind of "crash" their classes in the 3rd semester.

Hi Everyone, do you guys know when we will hear back? When I dropped off my paper work the person accepting them stated it’s going to take awhile since she’s the only one reviewing??

Was it the lady with a lot of piercings lol?? She told me the same thing. I think they usually let everyone know in March ?

Any updates???

=(

@missellamae yes, same it was. I wonder if she’ll review to make sure all paperwork are good then it goes on the second phase for other people to review more in dept?

@ihopeigetin I don’t think so. ?

My science GPA: 3.0

Teas:63.3

My stats aren't as high as you all, but I hope we all get a chance at SWC! ? I have AA, CNA, fluent vietnamese, some health field work experience. I think I applied with 74/75 points. Hopefully that will suffice to make the cut..

@FutureNurse_18 I hope that's what's happening, she may be the only one reviewing all the forms and things. She just flipped through my packet and then said it's all good. Weird. I check my SWCCD email all the time just to check

anything yet???

I think im in an okay position but im worried about the "review process".

Most people seem to have negative experiences with the person receiving the application.

Nothing yet but if anyone hears anything or receives acceptance can you let us know???

I didn’t make the cut last year. But, It was some lady filling in the spot until they selected the new DON which is Geoffrey Schroder? I haven’t heard anything about him or if he’s more strict that the others. ☹️

i have a friend who got the inside scoop: the assistant director (who is acting director until they hire someone) is currently reviewing all the applications from all the nursing programs they have at SWC. she has some helpers reviewing too but she's the main one - we will probably hear something in March. for the LVNs that applied to the step up program...we will also probably hear something about the dosage exam in March. there's a ton of applicants this time around :(
