My children are heading off to school this coming school year, and I'm hoping to as well to knock out my prerequisites so I can head into nursing. In some forums on-line I'm hearing that people are sometimes waiting years to be accepted into nursing programs. One woman in TX said there are 120 spots in her school each semester but something like 1,200 hopefuls.
Out of curiousity, does anyone know the situation around Philadelphia and it's suburbs? I'm looking into Montgomery County Community College, but I'm wondering if I should brace myself for a wait.
Thanks!

You do not need to be accepted into nursing school to start pre-reqs. Just find out what classes the nursing school that you want to get into needs. Then take the enterance test, as you are taking pre-reqs. The earliest dates around here is Fall of 07, and they are filling up or filled up. I live in Chester County.
Good luck

Excellent advice Adam's mom. That's what I did. I completed my re-reqs and applied to the nursing program. By the time I was accepted into the nursing program 1 year later I had completed the pre-reqs I needed. Good Luck to you.
I also live in Chester County. I went to Delaware County Community College...the Chester County Hospital program. It was great!! I loved it .
There's an entrance test into the nursing program at your school? I don't know if MontCo does that. Hmmm. Yeah, Fall 2007 is the earliest I could begin the nursing program as I still have five pre-reqs to get through.
Yeah, I'm hoping it will work out so I'll have a year of pre-reqs and then being accepted the year following. We'll see!
