Southeast Baptist Hospital

Published

Hello Texas Nurses! I am a new grad nurse that has been offered a position at southeast baptist hospital in San Antonio. Can anyone tell me what it is like there in san antonio? Or give me a little information about the hospital itself? I have never been to texas so any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Come on you mean to tell me that there are no nurses from the San Antonio area on this forum? I know there has to be someone with information about the areas around SE Baptist hospital or know something about things to do around town in san antonio? Dont be shy, anything about the area or the hospital would be appreciated, anything lol?

Southeast Baptist is pretty small and old. The DON there is super nice though... Supposedly they're building a new hospital down there eventually. I had one of my clinical rotations there but I was only on the med-surg floor so I don't know much about the rest... it's in a rougher part of town so you'll get some more interesting cases.

Do you mind telling me about the med surg unit? Oh and can you tell me what part of town is a bit better but not to far? Thanks again!

I knew there were nurses in san antoinio somewhere? lol!

Anything downtown and south of downtown is just kind of that way. I'm not sure about Northeast Methodist area... that's off of 35 and topperwein. Southeast is getting computer charting I think this week, which is before all of the other Baptist hospitals except one. The med-surg units are on the first floor. They have 2 nurse's stations, one bigger and one small. I guess with the computer charting now each nurse has a computer cart they take with them to each pt room. I can't remember how many rooms/beds. But the food in the cafeteria is super cheap. =)

For places to live I recommend the North side. It is easy to get around the city and it won't be a long commute.

Do you know about the hospitals in the area?

The nicest, newest hospital in the Baptist system is Northcentral Baptist. It it is Stone Oak off off highway 1604. The area is really nice and developing fast. That area is San Antonio's new "medical center." Northeast is ok, but that is just my opinion. The area around the hospital is nice too and affordable. San Antonio may not pay as much as other cities but the cost of living is lower.

Southeast Baptist hospital is a very small hospital. Dont know too much about it, but I do live in the area. It is a rougher part of town, but there are some nice, new neighborhoods very close by. The area is growing. I heard they are going to build a new hospital just up the road, dont know when construction is going to start, though. One thing I really like about this part of town is the traffic. Someone mentioned Stone Oak area, and I just thought Id let you know that the traffic out there is HORRIBLE!
