NICU RN's
I work in San Antonio in a high accuity NICU. We hire between 1 and 4 new grads twice a year. They must have their BSN. Starting pay is approximently 22ish. My significant other just started as a new grad in the Methodist hospital system and they are only paying $16 for the first 13 weeks after that they increase to 22 (they just started this). That seems pretty lame to me...

Children's Hospital of Los Angeles
Hi EKR15, I am just reading your post about CHLA. Was wondering how everything turned out. I will be in your old shoes soon. I will be moving to LA with my boyfriend. He has lived in Mar Vista and Echo Park. Really nervous about moving with my nine year old. Anyhoo... I have almost 5 yrs of NICU experience so i'm not too concerned about not being able to find a job but he will only have 1 year of pedi ER experience. I am a BSN and he isn't yet but will be soon. Any info you have on the hospital (or other hospitals) and area's of town would be appreciated. I am sure you are an LA pro by now!

VA Hospital Portland
Hi everyone, My husband is a veteran and a new grad (as of last Dec). He has not been able to find a job here in San Antonio. Before anyone tells me how bad the job market is in Portland let me assure you, I know. It seems to be bad everywhere. My question is to those who work at the VA in Portland. Do you know if they hire new grads and how long is the hiring process? According to USA jobs there are more RN jobs in Portland than here in San Antonio and we have a support system there. Thanks for any helpful info you can give. I greatly appreciate it.

ADN's trouble finding jobs?
My boyfriend graduates from nursing school next week with an ADN (San Antonio.) He has been told by two local hospital organizations so far that while his application looks great, they are only hiring BSN's. Are other ADN grads finding this to be true? While we knew getting a BSN is going to be necessary and he will continue on to BSN as soon as he passes NCLEX we didn't think this transition to BSN only hospitals would be happening so soon. I graduated only two years ago with an ADN and didn't find my ADN status to be a problem.

single mom RN moving to seattle/questions about city
Hi, I plan on moving to Seattle in the next year or so. Can anyone tell me what neighborhoods they recommend? I had Capitol Hill in mind. My child will be in the 4th grade and I want her in a good school. Also, as a single mother are there any part time nanny/ after school care/ or even night child care available (in case i'm only offered night shift). I am a neonatal nurse. Is there any NICU nurses on this board that could tell me what hospitals are level III and which ones are lower acuity like level II? I appreciate any info anyone is willing to share.

Southeast Baptist Hospital
For places to live I recommend the North side. It is easy to get around the city and it won't be a long commute.
