Nursing Students NP Students

I was wondering if anyone was currently in the South University Online FNP program. I could really use some support. I am having a difficult time obtaining preceptors. Also, for those that are about to graduate, did the last few classes prep you for boards.

Margo1, I broached the work of finding preceptor sites like a job interview. I had a small portfolio introducing myself and why I was looking to become a NP. I then had some information about the school, proof of its accreditation, and the course outline of what I was expected to learn and study in that practicum. I then called various places that I wanted to do my practicums in and asked to speak to the office manager. I then explained who I was and the reason for my call...that I wanted to drop of a proposal to do my clinical practicum with Dr. whoever or NP whoever. I then asked when it would be convenient to drop it off. I went dressed like going for a professional job interview, met briefly with the office manager, and left my portfolio. I then followed up with a telephone call the next day thanking her/him for meeting with me and asking when I could expect to hear back. Now, that being said...I had all my ducks in a row, and my first site had to be changed as the practitioner died, my second site had to be changed because the practitioner moved, my third site may or may not have to change because the practitioner is thinking of retiring, and my fourth site has to be changed as the practitioner has been diagnosed with end-stage cancer and has closed the practice. I found my first site within two days, and have my second site all set and ready to start in 2 weeks. Hope this helps.

I got accepted to South university on Friday. I have my clinical sites. I understand they will be graduating their first fnp class in August. When did you start?

This will be the first "online" graduation. The school has actually had several campus-based FNP graduations. I started at the end of March 2013 and will be done this December.

Have you worked fulltime while at South? I start next week and have no idea what to expect
