My name is Lori.
I just passed the LPN entrance exam . And have been accepted into the program. 30 out of 150 applicants. Any advise for new nursing students? Anything I should study before starting the program? :uhoh21: Any advise would be great.
Thanks

Hi! Great Job! I am currently studying for the NET on June 3rd in my area. Can you give me any advise as to the test? What types of math questions did you find on your test and what other areas would you suggest I concentrate my studies on? I am so wanting to become a nurse I can just taste it.

Good Luck on your test!!!
The NET wasn't bad at all, Nothing but MATH, English, Reading Comp. I really focused on the Math, Decimals, Ratios, Fractions, (adding, subtracting, multiplying, divide) I got almost 100% in all the Math, but the English, I got about 90% Overall I scored a 93.5. When I went for my interview, she said, she was impressed with my Math because it was a very important part of the program

I will be honest with ya, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had so many people say, oh it is awful, are you sure you really want to do this, how are you going to do this with 4 kids, etc....
I was determined...this is what I have always wanted to do...nobody knows me like my parents know me and they knew I could do it.
But the one thing that really really prepared me was that orientation, those instructors did not hold back and they were very honest. It is intimidating as heck walking into that room, but hang in there, it is every bit worth it. 3 more months to go and I am D. O. N. E.!!!!!
I just enrolled in the September Program -=) aren't you sooo excited and very nervous? I just went to my orientation and reserved my seat in the class......Do you have to read the math for meds book prior to your start date? Do you have any children? I have 2 So I am sooo scared but Im gonna try my hardest -=) Good Luck to you as well
Congrats to you-=) you should be very proud of your self.... I have a 2 and a 4 year old I will be starting my program fulltime in September....Any advice from you would be appreciated :)
No, Congrats to you!!!!!! :balloons: :Melody: It gives me goosebumps thinking back to when I was where you are now. Make sure you read my advice that I posted earlier in this post.
Since you have 2 kids, lean on your family as much as possible. Every other weekend my kids went to my mom and dads from Friday through Sunday afternoon, and I used that time to study. We used to go out on Friday nights for dinner, but then after that we would go hang out with friends, we cut that part out and just went to dinner and then came home, spent time with each other then I would wake up on Saturday mornings and hit the books hard. Also, don't plan on studying until the kids go to be, there is no way to study and really get it soaked in if the kids are up and interupting you every 10 minutes.
Also, plan on being very very very broke in about a year. This is the sadest part of it all. No income, means no money. Hang in there, just keep telling yourself, "it isn't that long".
Congrats again.

I agree that the best advice for the 10 month program is to let everyone know your life is on hold! There is no way I could have made it through this program if I would have been working! I have children so between them and this program there is barely time to study! Never ever fall behind! Study as much as possible! Read ahead when you can. Again the most important thing is for those around you to understand that this program IS your life for the next 10 months!
