I start school the end of August!! Is there anything i should know before I start? Maybe some good pointers? What was your experience like in school? And do you work as a cna right now?

CNA class was not hard at all. The one unit I did have the hardest time with was the body systems, and what problems can go wrong with each one. To get a good grade on that one I felt I did the most studing for, and was the most nervous. We had a test almost once a week, and then of course our final test at the end. We had our clinicals at th local VA Home which I really liked, and it was overall a good experiance. The only thing was a wish I got a little more hands on while there.
I took my classes through a Home Care Company that I worked as an Aide for, and now am still working for them as a CNA

Are we talking about a three week wonder class, 3 day bridge class, 3 month generalist class, or 7.5 month pre-LPN-CNA course?
Best advice, mouth shut, eyes open, ears listening.

I just finished my CNA class, which I took at LBCC. I really enjoyed it and the group meshed well. I think 1 of the most important things to remember is to give your attention and your respect to your nursing instructors, practicum teachers, etc. They have so much experience and so many things to teach you, that it's in your absolute best interest to be respectful.
We had a few girls, and I use the term girls because they were barely out of high school and behaved like unruly toddlers, that would have loud side conversations and giggle all through class; all while talking about their sex lives while at our clinical site. I really have no hopes for them becoming competent and professional medical personnel.
I'm taking the state exam next month and quite anxious to start work soon. Good luck to you in your studies!!
Thank you for all the great answers! I'm doing my program thru a hospital it's a 12 week program and then after you take the exam and pass you have a definite job at the hospital :) I'm really excited to start! Are any of you guys furthering your education? Maybe LPN or RN?

CNA class is going to be easy. The things I found was the most common sense things are taught. Things that helped me
1. You don't really need that much memory
2. Hope you like to read because that will be what you will be doing. Practice reading comprehension and if you can't comprehend it, write it out(the main points)
3. Listen to lecture.
4. Lab is fun, just don't get nervous. Pay attention to the patient you are taking care of in clinical.
Hope that helps. I'm taking my exam next week! :)
I'm going step by step. LPN, then RN(my community college lets you go for half a year more to become a RN), then Nurse Practitioner. I wonder if I'll stop there. Also 12 weeks gives you more time! I did it in 8 weeks.
