Hi guys! I am starting a thread for us!
I just submitted my application. I did a webinar with [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAMES, PER TERMS OF SERVICE] and they seemed super nice. The webinar was informative!
I am trying to find information on previous application statistics, but I can't find anything 😅
So after I got the email, I went to the student center and I had stuff in the to do list. Have to pay the deposit and accept admission. Eeeek! Good luck to everyone! I think everyone's emails are coming in slowly but surely. I have a friend I work with who got a call that hasn't gotten email yet.
I got an email Friday...am so excited and looking forward to the learning adventure. From my understanding, more applicants were accepted for the upcoming cohort and that's why they're trying to see if some students can go part-time so that there's more room for clinical placements. See you April 26th...Cheers!!
Hello All!
Hoping someone can give me me a little info. I am currently in GCU's AGACNP program. However, I have been having thoughts about switching to FNP, I am in Santa Rosa and am looking into SSU FNP program, as GCU does not offer a FNP within CA. One of my difficulties with GCU's AGACNP program is we have to find our own preceptors which can be difficult especially since it is an actue care program. Is that how SSU's program is? Also are majorty of your classes online? I know this was a newer thread so if you do not have that info no worries but I was trying to ask around!
Thank you!
The majority of the classes are online. The physical assessment class is in person one day a week in either Sonoma or Chico. In terms of preceptors, they will hook you up with the contact info of different clinics they've used before. But it's up to you to find your own preceptors. It seems local clinics (and I'm assuming future employers too) are more interested in your application since it's a brick and mortar state school and not some degree mill at least that's been my experience so far.

Thank you! I appreciate your quick reply! For clinics - I'm assuming they give you the clinic info then you reach out and see if they have a preceptor available? Are you able to find your own preceptors also if the opportunity arises?
If you don't mind I'm curious about the admission process as well. Was it relatively simple? I don't see that they seem to require any essay or letters of recommendation? Unless that's just not posted on the SSU nursing page. Also, once deadlines are done for applications when did you find out you were admitted - March? And was that for an August start? Also wondering your comments / thoughts on the competitiveness of the program and if you know how many students are taken for the program.
thank you for the reply and help!!
