  1. The majority of the classes are online. The physical assessment class is in person one day a week in either Sonoma or Chico. In terms of preceptors, they will hook you up with the contact info of different clinics they've used before. But it's up to you to find your own preceptors. It seems local clinics (and I'm assuming future employers too) are more interested in your application since it's a brick and mortar state school and not some degree mill at least that's been my experience so far.
  2. I got an email late last night about admission to Sonoma State! Nothing from the school of Nursing though, and it does not specify which program (part-time or full-time) that I got into... my profile did change from "under review" to "congratulations". I'm going to patiently wait for everything to fall into place before making the final call. Thinking good thoughts for everyone on this thread! See you soon ?
  3. Me. I'm based out of Roseville / Rocklin!
  4. We talked about finding preceptors, orientation day on Apr. 26 (be there unless you're dead basically), the courses to be offered in Summer session, and basic application questions. No indications of a negative experience here, but not an acceptance either. Let's hope for a good outcome one for everyone!
  5. Mine also says under review as well. The director did call me on Friday afternoon from a personal cell phone, so I'm taking it as somewhat good news. The wait is killing me!
  6. I think that the situation will improve as the stock market continues to rise and those ready to retire have gained substantially in their 401k/403b accounts. A lot of the current problems arise from those nurses who are older and choosing not to retire as planned because their accounts didn't support the lifestyle they wanted in retirement. For those of you who are concerned about getting a job after graduation realize though the job market is currently tight for newgrad nurses, it is comparitively easy to find a job as compared to some of the other majors out there -- such as BS Biology, or any liberal arts for that matter.
  7. awww... thats all right, anyone else interested in splitting a room with me?
  8. Carrie, I'm an idiot ... I just realized I can't send PM's ... but I'm available to split the cost of any room in Nashville. I'll even sleep on the floor at this point (with an inflatable mattress!) :) ... Any other takers?
  9. Thank you all so much for attending the first annual Sacramento State Nursing Career Fair. I hope you all got something out of it. It is my intention to make the fair larger and more inclusive next year. Good luck with the job hunt!
  10. I'm sorry for the confusion. I had originally planned on having the career fair from 1100 - 1600, but it turns out that most of our nursing program has classes during those times, so I had to change the timing of the event to accommodate them. The career fair is MARCH 13, 2009 from 2 - 6PM. Look forward to seeing you all. Spread the word!!
  11. Sorry for the late reply everyone, I've just been so busy lately with clinicals and school (I had over 40 hours of clinicals this week alone) ... The career fair is still going on, and it is open for everyone to come. It is a free event, and refreshments will be served. As stated earlier the fair will be at the Redwood Room, University Union, March 13, 2009 from 2-6 PM. I need some people to come closer to the 2PM time, so if you can make it then, I truly appreciate it. Please spread the word ... Lets make it worthwhile for the hospitals that come!
  12. Is anyone going to the National NSNA convention (Nashville, TN) in April? I was thinking about going, but don't have anyone to room with. So if you are looking for a roommate for the convention, post here! Thanks! Nick
  13. It's mainly for RN's but NURSING recruiters will be there and probably wouldn't mind seeing a CNA or two ...
  14. There is going to be a nursing career fair at Sac State on 3/13/2009 in the Redwood Room of the University Union from 11AM - 3PM. Admission is Free, and Bring Resume's! All the big hospitals in Northern California should be there. More details to come :)
  15. Congrats Bath and Hotflashn on your acceptances!! By way of introduction, I am a soon to be second semester nursing student :) .. You guys will be joining us in the fall because of the compressed schedule. PM me if you have any questions about the program! I look forward to meeting you at orientation!! Nick
