Please type in the complete problem...so we can answer

It appears that you are trying to convert an ICD setting into a gravity flow. ICD settings and gravity flow are calculated in two different ways:

ICD = Volume to be admin. (mL) X 60 (min. in an hour) / Minutes to be infused

Gravity = Volume to be admin. (mL) X Drip rate of tubing (ex. 10 or 15) / Minutes to be infused.

Need to give the drop factor on the tubing and then we can help you :-)

I would personally like to see the complete problem. It could also be missing information for a pump problem

This IS. The whole problem guys. No drop factor or other info given.

I went by the gravity formula you have making it 155ml/hr x hr/ 60mins x 15gtts/ml and it equaled 38.75 gtts per min so i rounded to 39 gtts per min.

Its wrong though and im good at math, never had a problem with the calculations so im a bit confused where i went wrong!

Hmmm....What was the med order? Was it 155 mL to be administered over 1 hour with a 15 drop set? That would be an odd order, but if that was the case then the calculation would be 39 gtt/min. Would you happen to be trying to figure this to put on your care plan page at the bottom where it says gravity flow? If so, there is no figuring there. If the Kardex says infusion at 155 mL/hr, you would just write ICD or N/A on that line at the bottom of the careplan pages. I don't know without seeing what you are looking at, but it seems that you are trying to figure a ICD setting. It being 155 mL/hr and all. Let me know, we'll figure this thing out.

Ooop, just saw above where you put this was all the information you were given. Was it in the study guide or some other source. I don't understand why this problem was given to you, it's not workable.

Maybe thats the answer, not enough info to give answer??

I think you guys are right.... It may not be workable. My thinking was if going from icd 155ml/hr converting to iv gravity flow gtts/min this is what i was doing:::

155ml/ hr. X 15gtts/ ml. X 1hr/ 60mins= 38.75 gtts/min.

I did the 15gtts per min bc i needed to get from ml to gtts and one ml has 15 gtts. I must have worked it wrong. I swear im losing my mind with all this!!

Im sorry for asking such a dumb question but i appreciate all the help. I know im feeling overwhelmed... As we all are!!
