Whether it's an RN or a PN program, both are forms of nursing school. One is a professional nursing program, while the other is a practical nursing program. Therefore, my opinion is that you'd be in a better position by enrolling in either a CNA or LPN program while you wait.
I made the mistake of enrolling in a MA program 8 years ago. I was never able to find a job or put the schooling to good use.

I agree. I've heard of many people who have gone through MA school and found it very difficult to find a job. I think you may find it easier to just do the CNA because LPN programs can be competitive as well. But if you can get into one now, I would go for it. If not, just do the CNA. You will gain valuable experience either way.
SO I am in CT so I am not sure where you are compared to these listings but here is the site I used to find nursing programs. You can change the search to included lpn or rn. You have probably seen this already though, But Good luck.

I would DEFINITELY try to get in to an LPN program if you cant get into the RN. If you cant get into an LPN then get into a CNA class, which should only be about a month or so (ours here is 1-2 mos over the summer). They all build on eachother and use the knowledge of the other and can give you potential experience/exposure to the field you want to be in, in the end.

I have applied to nursing school for spring 2009. If I dont get in the first time around I will have a year to wait. I thought about getting my LPN/medical assistant diploma in the meantime. I have many of my pre-req's out of the way. I am having trouble finding and LPN school here in Memphis however, there are a ton of Medical assistant programs around. Think it would help get my feet wet for nursing school. Thanks in advance, Jenn
