Before today, I had 5 classes left
Now that I have failed
I have 6 left as I have to retake med-surg
(which I have to wait 3 months to do because of the way the classes are spaced)
Soooo my grad date is pushed back another 3 months
I don't understand what I did wrong
I mean, I could have taken a wee bit more time to prepare for exams
But good Lord! I made flashcards, highlighted the crap outta my book, did amazing in clinicals, used reference books, and did the KA-JILLION practice questions that came with the book.
I can relate to your pain. It has happened to me, not once but twice and both classes were med surg. The most resent was this past May, and I only "failed" by 0.8%. Now, I have to start all over at a different college. I have thought long and hard about this and at the end of the day I still want to be a nurse, so that is why I keep putting myself through this type of hell. I think we both need to remember that this is temporary, and it is just a set back. It doesn't define us, it doesn't define what type of nurse we will be, it is just a bump in the road. Hold your head high because many couldn't get as far as you have and quit. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
Calm yourself and reassess. Whatever you were doing before was not working so sit down with your medsurg prof and go through each test and see what the problem was and work on it while you have a break. Then you can come back stronger than ever.

Your grad date is pushed back another 3 months? I'm sorry. Not seeing the issue here. You weren't kicked out of the program? You didn't have to start over? AND..your class is only 5 months long? ..no wait...5 WEEKS long?
--Suck it up, get over it. You are probably graduating as we speak! It sucks that you have to retake it, but if you were about to finish anyway and could still afford failing one class...then i think Med-Surg would be a PERFECT one to know forwards and backwards like you will by the end of this next semester! Don't sweat the small stuff, kid. You made it.

To be honest, 3 months is not that bad of a push back.
Can you imagine 6 months - 1 year? Keep your head up.
I thnk everyone is bound to fail a class at some point. You just have to cut your losses, re-strategize, and try again.
