New to hospice 5 weeks now. When I started I was only Hospice RN now with 8 patients now we have team DON 2 nd RN and office help with 7 patients. It's a for profit agency. I love love the patients and I enjoy my job but the owner drives me nuts!! She is so go do this now! Drop everything and jump! Examples; potential new patient but dpoa want on board owner made me drive out to house anyways got the door practically slammed in my face! Now there's another new pt that lives 45 mins out of town she like go out there now it's Friday at 3 pm but he's in hospital and the family says come on Monday. I just know tomorrow I get a call from owner saying you need to go now!! At what point do I put my foot down without being fired ? I heard the last DON quit because she didn't agree with stuff the owner had her doing. It's still my license right?! I don't mind going Saturday it's my weekend to work anyways but she wants home to have comfort meds so that would mean driving 45 min out there open him drive 45 min back town to pharmacy for meds and driving back out there. Oh did I say this is a pro bono case?!! She also told me I wouldn't get mileage cause censes is low and I am salary. Normally you get mileage for out of town.
