So my car window got smashed and my purse stolen . I was at work

Published

Happened Sunday night between 10p and 1230a. Same thing to a co worker. I currently work Inpt hospice. Such a thing has never happened before to my knowledge, and I have vacillated between Inpt Hospice and hospice homecare for last 10 yrs. Police report filed. Credit cards cancelled. For literally years, concerns have been raised by employees about security. Only to fall on deaf ears. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what it's going to take for security of healthcare workers to be taken seriously. I know zDogg has posted things related to this on his site. And am well aware this is nowhere near as bad as could have been. Apparently one of my coworker missed witnessing this by 10 minutes. Security had rounded ten minutes prior to co worker running quick errand to vehicle to retrieve snack.

So yes to update in case anyone cares- all cards cancelled as Iof Sunday am. No new charges to my knowledge. Bank account closed. Weirdly enough, a homeless guy literally walked up to door of my home with two stolen wallets and most of missing cards, as well as that from coworker whose vehicle was also smashed and grabbed. His story was that he has been trying to over the last month or so to " do what's right" and ' turn life around '. Says he bartered for what he returned. I didn't feel threatened by him- in fact my hubby gave him a ride to where he needed to go as well as bought him some things from grocery store. But I am sincerely weirded out and fighting urge to go get umm maybe 5 guard dogs. He says he went by my employer in Hope's of returning items there,- obviously they did not tell him if I was working or not. I did not get any notification from employer that this far out of ordinary event happened. And yeah, literally showed up at my house. I called police. Am really freaking out. Hoping no ill will intended.

MSO4toru, I appreciated the update, but WOW, I'd be freaked out too!

A few months ago in a large city in a BIG hospital, which is a teaching institution as well, an RN was murdered in the parking ramp monitored by cameras and security patrols. Is there anywhere that is safe anymore?

Based my recent experience, no, I don't think anyone is safe. Am only carrying drivers liscence car insurance and maybe 15$ to work now. Also had to put my sweet old collie dog down literally a week ago after this happened. Am I deranged for wondering what's happening to this world? Is nothing sacred? Why try to have anything if it can be taken so thoughtlessly?. ?

Don’t forget your medical insurance card too. I’ve been seriously hurt on the drive to work before. I don’t leave the house without it.
